Location/Division Specific Information
The Director of Program Management is part of the Biologics business unit within the Pharma Services Group, one of the fastest growing areas of Thermo Fisher Scientific. We focus providing development and commercial scale services which include multiple mammalian cell lines such as CHO, myeloma, hybridoma and PER.C6 for biopharmaceutical and biosimilar products. There are currently four sites where services are provided including St. Louis, Princeton, Groningen, and Brisbane, Australia.

This position will be site based at our facility in St. Louis, MO, with a travel expectation of 10-15%.

How will you make an impact?
As the Director of Program Management, you will oversee the BIO Project Management at the St. Louis site, leveraging the Program Management organization and cross-functional resources to ensure execution of all client programs. You will guide all activities relating to client scopes of work, communication, project planning, scheduling, and budget management. In addition, you will utilize recognized best practices for developing, initiating, planning, executing, controlling and closing projects.

What will you do?

  • Responsible for customer project management including communications, financials, scopes of work, timeline, risk analysis, governance structure, and conflict resolution.
  • Maintain strong business relationships and drives growth through strategic program governance.
  • Build a team in support of succession planning for critical roles. Develop and evaluate staff to ensure the exceptional customer service and program delivery.
  • Lead the team to meet expectations of customers, internal staff and business stakeholders in managing high quality, integrated cross-functional project plans.
  • Coordinate project management methodology with those of internal business partners in finance, quality, operations and supply chain.
  • Lead the Project Management team to drive customer-focused approach to program delivery.
  • Ensure site processes and tools for program support are aligned with globally harmonized processes and managed consistently.
  • Participate in site leadership team meetings to drive delivery of programs, mitigate challenges and proactively partner.
  • Collaborate with site financial management staff to deliver financial results of the business.
  • Support global program management team to develop and implement globally harmonized business and process maturity activities.
  • Champion deployment of approved business maturity solutions
  • Support site adoption and improvement of the corporate Customer Experience Management program.
  • Work on problems of diverse scope, takes actions and brings resolutions to ground.
  • Exercise consistent independent judgment to drive value for the company and customer.
  • Act as advisor to site, actively involved with customer programs to meet schedules or resolve problems.
  • Interact with cross-functional teams, outside customers, and third parties to drive proactive solutions to deliver world-class customer service and program delivery.
  • Leverage relationships to ensure exceptional customer service and program delivery.


How will you get here?

Education

  • BS/Master’s Degree or Ph.D. in a life sciences discipline.
  • M.B.A. is desirable.
  • Project Management certification is strongly preferred.


Experience

  • 10+ years of previous related experience, with 5-10 years in commercial strategy, business management, project management, supply chain, sales or marketing with internal and external client-facing responsibilities.
  • Pharmaceutical or Contract Manufacturing industry experience.
  • Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices and experience with budgeting and forecasting.
