Team Overview

Global Fund & Accounting Services: Alternatives Operations supports BlackRock Alternative Investments (BAI) and over $110B of assets globally. BAI takes a dynamic approach to alternative investments, crafting investment vehicles that increasingly capitalize on evolving opportunities in fast-changing markets. We offer clients strategies designed to provide returns with low correlations to the broad equity and bond markets, including private equity, real estate equity and debt, hedge funds of funds, single strategy hedge funds, long-only absolute return strategies, commodities and structured products. Our alternative investment capabilities are fully integrated into BlackRock, allowing investment teams to capitalize on the firm’s considerable resources in areas such as risk management, product development, client service and operational support. This role will be part of a team focusing on private credit vehicles investing primarily in bank loans and bonds with some private equity.


Role Responsibility

  • Perform accounting and reporting processes for one or more publicly traded business development companies, including preparation of financial documents and other information in Forms 10-K, 10-Q and 8-K
  • Prepare timely and accurate net asset values, performance measurements, distributions, analyses, projections and other fund reports
  • Perform monthly account closing procedures
  • Prepare board, managerial reporting materials, and journal entries in accounting software (Advent Geneva)
  • Monitor, reconcile and forecast daily cash
  • Correspond with custodians and resolve outstanding issues
  • Ensure timely payment of expenses and collection of interest and other investment income
  • Identify, research and resolve exceptions and issues affecting accounting records and prices
  • Prepare audit schedules and liaise with auditors
  • Perform periodic lender collateral and compliance analyses and reporting
  • Prepare accurate quarterly investor website reporting and other investor communications
  • Coordinate in the implementation and testing of internal controls
  • Creates opportunities for operational improvements and automation, as well as support ad hoc projects as assigned


Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or similar; MAcc preferred
  • Minimum 3 – 4 years public accounting or fund accounting experience
  • CPA preferred


Skills/Knowledge

  • Demonstrated analytical skills
  • Validated attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision, executes under pressure and ability to multi-task
  • Microsoft Office (high proficiency required in Excel spreadsheets)
  • Advent Geneva experience, a plus
