The Assistant Vice President works within our team of Advisors to grow organic revenue with medium to highly complex clients through an integrated selling strategy. Serves as a subject matter expert in insurance. Maintains strong relationships with key client and prospect stakeholders, as well as NFP Advisors and Account Executives.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides advanced technical insurance subject matter expertise to support NFP Advisors in the sales process.
  • Collaborates with NFP Advisors in selling NFP’s services to Property & Casualty insurance clients and prospects in the mid-size to large market, influencing engagement and interaction with clients.
  • Reports to and works with Chicago office P&C practice leader, developing and initiating plans to increase sales, manage budget, lower costs and continuously improve operations.
  • Builds trusting relationships with NFP Advisors as a reliable expert in insurance products and services.
  • Conveys and sells the value of NFP’s products and services to clients accurately and convincingly, including internal specialty capabilities.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with key client and prospect stake holders and carrier representatives.
  • Educates and connects team members with regard to resourcing appropriate carrier products and services, as well as internal specialty expertise.
  • Hands off new clients to the Account Management team and provides ongoing counsel throughout the client relationship.
  • Lead by example regarding compliance with NFP policies and best practices.
  • Exercises sound independent judgment on most matters; Collaborates and consults with the Managing Director or other senior sales leaders before taking action.


Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities:

  • Expert knowledge of Property & Casualty carriers, products, services, underwriting, and industry trends
  • Maintains strong connections within the Chicago area insurance carrier community
  • Expert knowledge regarding insurance account management best practices
  • Ability to work independently and anticipate client and team needs
  • Effective time management and decision making skills
  • Diligent follow-up skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain relationships of trust with carrier contacts and internal team members
  • Ability to express ideas clearly in both written and oral communications
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills

Education and/or Experience:

  • BA/BS preferred
  • More than 7 years of directly related industry sales experience


Certificates, Licenses, Registration:

  • Illinois Property & Casualty Insurance license required representing the coverages being sold.
