New York Cancer and Blood Specialists, a prominent and respected Oncology/Hematology group, is seeking a full-time Vice President of Healthcare Operations to join a well-established and growing pure sub-specialty practice with academic affiliation. NYCBS manages a freestanding outpatient Cancer Center with extensive chemotherapy administration, Radiation Oncology, Pharmacy and Research department.

The VP of Operations reports to the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Chief Finical Officer (CFO) and assists in developing and implementing the strategic long and short-range plans in alignment with NYCBS. The VP of Operations will be responsible for a broad range of tasks including quality, patient access and experience, growth, budgeting, policy making, and general administration. In this role, you will facilitate, measure, evaluate, and interpret care needs of patients and performance of staff while directing activities accordingly and meeting the directives established by the COO/CFO.

In addition, you will:

  • Provide the leadership and oversight of the day to day operations of NYCBS such as support departments, process improvement, productivity, budget management and quality management under the direction of the COO/CFO. Ensure clinical quality and patient experience is optimized while cost effectiveness and financial vitality are maintained and enhanced.
  • Assist in the development of an operational and business plan (short-term and long-term tactics).
  • Monitor all construction projects and keeping them on track from a time and budgetary standpoint.
  • Build and oversee operational budgets and ensure practices and departments manage within budgetary guidelines.
  • Ensure plans are developed and executed to meet key system indicators, goals, and metrics, including quality, safety, service, financial, and engagement performance.
  • Identify, recommend, and implement practice NYCBS needs including staffing, services, equipment, and other capital.
  • Drive towards a patient centric and engaging culture for physicians and employees.
  • Collaborate with NYCBS leaders for input, buy-in, and support on access, staffing, supply chain, capacity and other matters to ensure high quality patient care, financial sustainability and meeting determined targets.
  • Provide leadership to improve management effectiveness by creating and sustaining an environment of trust, ensuring ongoing and relevant communications with employees, creating opportunities for employees to contribute to improving initiatives, and connecting how employee’s work at all levels and contributing to the patients’ experience. Conducting regular direct report meetings to discuss goals, accomplishments and strategies.
  • Establish a culture of accountability and drive an unrelenting passion for excellence that demonstrates top tier performance and cutting-edge innovation.
  • Partner with physicians and leaders in the oversight, development and implementation of quality improvement, performance improvement and patient safety programs that improve access, quality care and patient experience and growth.
  • Maintain positive community relations and serve as liaison with other staff and the public.
  • Manage meetings by contributing to decision-making and establishing an agenda in consultation with NYCBS Leadership. Resolve operational problems and keep lines of communication open with staff to ensure high productivity.

We require:

  • Master’s Degree and 5-7 Years leadership experience in a Health Care environment.
  • Proven administrative, management, and supervisory experience.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office Applications especially with pivot tables.
  • Working knowledge of HIPAA, OSHA and State/Federal laws governing medical services.
  • An in-depth knowledge of healthcare regulations and medical terminology.
  • Basic knowledge of statistics and graphical representation principles.
  • Strong commitment to patient care.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, mediation, problem solving, leadership, multi-tasking, and time management skills.
