  • Job Summary: The account manager is responsible for managing a portfolio clients (6-8) and promoting them to their target audiences. The main point of contact for all client day-to-day needs, account managers are responsible for strategizing around key news announcements and press releases, leading media outreach initiatives, handling any and all client queries and requests, and delegating to junior staff accordingly. This role has a heavy influence in shaping a client’s reputation and profile within the media and will manage press coverage to elevate the brand among their target demographics.

  • Leads teams for 5-7 client accounts, holding strategy/brainstorming sessions weekly and delegating among team members as needed.
  • Ability to flag clients who are ‘mayday’ accounts and work with teams to course correct.
  • Responsible for managing junior staff – everything from delegated tasks and time management to professional growth and development.
  • External
  • Serves as the main point of contact for all client accounts.
  • Strategizes around key announcements and initiatives, positioning client news and campaigns appropriately to members of the press.
  • Conducts daily media outreach to relevant editors and reporters.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with relevant editors and reporters.
  • Drafts and proofreads media materials and pitches; proofreads all pitches and drafted content from junior staff.
  • Skills Required
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university in Journalism, PR or Communications and a minimum of 3-4 years in the field and/or a Master’s degree in public relations or a related field.
  • Displays the ability to communicate effectively and remain calm and courteous under pressure.
  • Ability to multitask within our collaborative team structure and open work environment with varied noise and distraction levels.
  • Displays leadership qualities including the ability to lead teams, prioritize, and delegate. Also responsible for helping junior staff members grow and succeed within the organization.
  • Displays critical thinking in terms of strategizing around major press announcements and initiatives; ability to council clients as needed.
  • Who do they report to/who reports to them?
  • Account Managers report directly to VPs and/or the Founder of the company.
  • All junior staff members including ACs and AEs report directly to AM.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $50,000.00 to $80,000.00 /year
