The candidate will report to the Executive Vice President of Finance and Operations and will oversee activities in support of the overall accounting and production objectives. The candidate will also be responsible for cultivating a positive culture, ensuring the development of office personnel, and driving results for an office handling transactions totaling more than $1B for 36+ automotive franchises.
- Ultimate responsibility for ensuring key company activities are performed in a timely, accurate, and reliable manner:
- external financial reporting to manufacturers,
- monthly financial close process,
- external audit compliance,
- administration of effective internal controls * Direct supervision of 10 accounting managers and indirect supervision of 40+ employees
- Responsible for improving accounting and production performance within a results-driven framework focused on timeliness, accuracy, and communication
- Develops, sets, monitors, and manages by KPIâs to drive efficiencies and value throughout the organization â specifically to improve the businesses cash flow and customer service
- Regularly communicates with accounting managers and staff to achieve mutual understanding and desired results
- Oversees the development of operational optimization projects and submits projects as necessary for review and approval
- Charged with setting and running an office meeting schedule that fosters shared understanding and responsibility
- Final responsibility for the development and training of all employees — inlcuding recruiting, hiring, coaching, mentoring and giving proper performance feedback
- Identifies training requirements and develops the skill-set within the team to support existing and new technologies
Requirements:
- Strong demonstrable knowledge of both GAAP and the automotive industry with at least 10 years in experience
- Automotive experience and proficiency with CDK — or willingness to invest 10+ hours/week for 4-6 weeks outside of normal working hours to develop and demonstrate proficiency
- Ability to interface with diverse teams â including accounting and production staff, accounting and production managers, vendors, dealership management, project management, upper management, and ownership
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment with proven time management, organization and prioritization skills
- Experience running meetings and driving teams to consensus and action
- Exceptional responsiveness and communication skill (verbal, listening, written)
- Collaborative and respectful leadership style
- Unrelenting sense of personal responsibility with a developed proficiency in skill-based delegation
- Proven results impacting growth and optimization in a leadership position
