The Senior Director plays a key strategic, management, and leadership role, working alongside others for the development of client and new business proposals and presentations. The role manages strategic planning for each account and maintains strong client relationships, while creating new campaign ideas and initiatives to drive traditional and social media programs.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Media | Influencer Relations
- Assists with contract negotiations for influencers, brand spokespersons, and celebrities
- Meets and/or exceeds coverage goals
Account Management
- Works with VP and client contacts on all elements of launching a new account
- Acts as a senior strategic partner who challenges clients with smart thinking and strategic guidance
- Identifies key priorities/deliverables for clients and helps set and manage realistic expectations
- Manages annual account reviews and new annual PR plans for continuing clients
- Regularly monitor client’s program goals; addresses challenges and successes in meeting goals
- Identifies opportunities for incremental projects
- Identifies and addresses issues before they become problems with clients (and staff)
Team Management | Mentoring
- Acts as a liaison between VP and junior team members; problem solves as needed
- Proactively communicates with VP as to what you and the team need in order to be successful
- Supervises team’s tracking of trends and current events for clients to ensure consistent coverage
- Communicates priorities on a daily and weekly basis to junior staff and ensures deadlines are met
- Connects with each employee on a personal level, offering help and guidance
- Assists with identifying potential new hires
- Helps team process and improve their writing and presentation competencies
Writing | Editing
- Reviews and edits monthly and quarterly activity and media coverage reports as developed by junior staff and distributes to clients
- Final editor and reviewer of all press releases, pitch letters and communication materials written by junior team members prior to client distribution
Events | Campaigns Management
- Finalizes event and launch strategy documents and oversees end to end events execution & campaigns
- Oversees event budgets and provides regular updates to client on event requirements
New Business
- Assists VP with creative ideas for new business proposals
- Attends and presents new business presentations, meetings and scouting opportunities as needed
- Participates in new business proposals as needed
Agency Contributions
- Participates in agency’s development programs and contributes positively to the culture, atmosphere & values
- Establishes professional and respectful relationships with staff
QUALIFICATIONS
Education Bachelor’s Degree preferred
Experience
- 9- 10 years of progressive PR experience
- Sound understanding of budgeting and finance management and experience managing a team and multiple client accounts. Successful track record of developing integrated public relations programs. Experience in influencer marketing and social media.
