Under the direction of the Director of Assembly, the Plant President will direct the operations of a manufacturing plant facility including fabrication, repair and/or assembly of U-Haul rental vehicles, tow dollies, and other equipment and specialty items designed for rental or sale to U-Haul customers. The Plant President will direct the execution of manufacturing schedules, personnel requirements, quality control and the application of production standards and safety programs.

Ensure plant personnel adhere to all federal, state, and local requirements with regard to safe use and disposal of hazardous products and materials

  • Analyze and interpret policy bulletins, profit and loss statements, cost estimates, manpower and facilities cost reports, production forecasts, and other various reports
  • Understand and comply with the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) regulations and company policies with regard to safety; must wear adequate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and use other safety and emergency equipment as needed
  • Ensure personnel functions are consistent with good business practices relating to hiring, training, morale, complaint handling, performance standards and appraisal, salary adjustments, and dismissals for a cause or inadequate performance
  • Plan and anticipate future needs of the company with respect to additional or expanded facilities, tools, equipment, and personnel necessary for the effective development and maintenance of business volume so as to meet required production, repair, or assembly deadlines
  • Ensure shipping and receiving standards, procedures, and schedules are implemented according to established guidelines
  • Keep abreast of local conditions, competitive operations, and state and local legislative actions that could impact business operations
  • Approve policies, plans, and standards necessary to operate and efficiently run a manufacturing plant
  • Immediately report and/or recommend necessary changes to upper management
  • Develop standards to ensure machinery is properly maintained in safe operating conditions at all times.

Must have the knowledge to work in a computerized environment with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

  • 8-9 years of management experience in a manufacturing, production, or similar environment
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes and quality control
  • Must have good communication skills both written and verbal
  • High School Diploma
