Little Explorers Family Day Care is in need of a positive, nurturing and fun-loving director to help unleash the potential of our students and teachers. Your primary duty will be to help run the daily operations of the child care, spend time in the classroom, provide leadership to staff, and execute the vision of the school. This is a great position for someone who is seeking to spend time in the classroom to support their teachers but also have roles of an administrator.
You will supervise the students, maintain a safe and healthy environment, and support children’s emotional and social development, encourage understanding of others, and positive self-concept. The successful applicant should be ready to think creatively, assist with activities in accordance with curriculum objectives, developmentally appropriate practices and program philosophy. You should also be able to change diapers and maintain a clean and organized classroom.
The Director should be committed to developing meaningful relationships with students and parents alike, as well as teachers. You must have strong communication skills, as you will be expected to interact with colleagues, parents, students and educational authorities. The ideal candidate will be understanding, attentive and caring to student needs and have a passion for the education field.
This position will be trained to become a primary child care provider in this in home child care.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Strong communication and time management skills
Excellent knowledge of child development and up-to-date education methods
Able to lift 20 – 40 pounds
CPR and First Aid Certified
Negative TB Test
At least 47 ECE Credits
2 Years of Lead Teacher Experience
1 Year of Administrative Work Experience
Food Handler’s Permit
Basic STARS Certification (30 Hours)
Job Duties and Tasks:
- Ensure that Little Explorers Family Day Care meets or exceeds licensing and accrediting requirements and maintain positive relationships with all regulatory and accrediting agencies.
- Maintain a safe and healthy environment for everyone.
- Support children’s emotional and social development, encourage understanding of others, and positive self-concepts.
- Think creatively – develop, design, or create new applications, ideas, relationships, systems, or products, including artistic contributions.
- Establish and maintain interpersonal relationships with coworkers and families.
- Assist with activities in accordance with curriculum objectives, developmentally appropriate practices and program philosophy.
- Dress children and change diapers.
- Maintain daily open communication with parents.
- Organize and store toys and materials to ensure order in activity areas.
- Sanitize and clean toys, classroom, backyard and restroom.
- Supervise children in classrooms, backyard, playground, and on field trips.
- Keep the classroom clean and organized.
- Maintain a positive relationships with staff to ensure open communication.
- Ongoing development of the program, including administrative operations and the curriculum.
- Maintain the day-to-day business to keep the school/staff up and running (staffing schedule, answering phone calls/emails, etc)
- Monitor condition of all the licensed space, the kitchen, the storage room and all equipment to ensure all safety standards are met.
