Global Operational Innovations Senior Director, Chief of Staff for the Operations Leadership Team

Business Management & Operations

WHAT YOU’LL DO

BCG’s Operations Leadership Team (OLT), led by the CFO, sponsors and steers our major operational transformation initiatives. Those initiatives are, in turn, often managed and staffed by our Operational Innovations (OI) team, led by the CTO who has responsibility to drive our overall Transformation program.

The OLT is composed of the leaders of the major operating functions together with the regional COOs, and CTO. It has four core elements to its charter:

  • Improve the operating effectiveness of BCG, supporting scalable growth and increasing efficiency, at a reasonable cost

  • Drive global operating excellence change efforts

  • Sponsor and coordinate to ensure best possible outcomes in our efforts to deliver improved operating outcomes

  • Establish a view on the future evolution of BCG’s operating model

OI serves as an internal consulting team, bringing effective analytics, project and program management, change management, engagement strategy, enablement and project execution capabilities to a wide range of internal operational projects.

This role will have dual responsibility to drive the ongoing agenda for the OLT and, as such, the core change and operations program for BCG’s collective operations; and to build and lead the OI team to support the effective execution of that operational change agenda.

A key priority for BCG and our Operational Innovations team is on enabling the step-change improvement in the effectiveness and efficiency of the firm by accelerating high-priority initiatives sponsored by the Operations Leadership Team and/or our Operating Committee.

The OI team works with the senior leaders of individual functions and geographies to define and prioritize the set of improvement initiatives, manage the portfolio of projects in a consistent and robust manner, accelerate analytics and specific redesign processes when required, assist functional project owners to drive change throughout the firm, and oversee development of the measurement and monitoring tools that define progress made and value delivered. The team includes project managers and analysts, as well change and communications experts to drive the most effective change management and stakeholder engagement for our highest-profile and most complex internal change efforts. Finally, the team also includes Enablement experts and coaches supporting ongoing activation on new ways of working.

In this critical dual role you will be responsible for leading the OI team to manage the effective execution of internally-focused operational improvement and transformation initiatives and, in parallel, shaping and supporting the OLT agenda. Focus areas could include any of BCG’s internal functions. OI leadership includes taking total ownership on OI-supported projects to support internal clients in the development and execution of effective project plans, identifying KPIs for those projects, managing internal stakeholders and more junior team members to produce great results, communicating project status and developing relevant project updates or business cases for senior management. This role will be critical in delivering and accelerating change in our internal functions. This role will also play a critical role in building and reinforcing an OI team culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and analytical insight for OI team members, and in developing junior team members through on the job mentoring within assigned projects.

Working with the CFO, you will also be responsible for the overall management and execution of the OLT agenda, including project portfolio ownership, progress assessment, and senior management reporting and analysis. You will also lead a small team to deliver effective engagement opportunities to ensure the agenda progresses.
