The Director of The Tiffany Workshop (TWS) is a highly visible role responsible for successfully manufacturing “High Jewelry”(HJ). This includes Schlumberger, repeatable HJ, unique Blue Book pieces and custom jewelry. The incumbent in this role will build and strengthen relationships across the organization, and develop a high performing team and culture by leading, motivating, and engaging some of the highest caliber jewelry artisans in the world. S/He will Lead change to continuously produce new products, improve operating procedures, and develop effective manufacturing processes to grow the business significantly while managing variability in demand


Responsibilities


Operational Strategy and Implementation

  • Establishes and executes manufacturing strategies; establishing critical measurements; determining production, productivity, on time delivery, quality, and customer-service strategies; accumulating resources; resolving problems; and building a responsive organization
  • Delivers products that meet Tiffany expectations by formulating, installing, and enforcing good manufacturing practices; developing and improving production and engineering processes, procedures, methods, and techniques; enhancing the application of staff; designing production planning and control systems and procedures; Drive a culture of quality and hold subordinates accountable for results that meet Tiffany & Co. quality standard
  • Prepare annual operating budgets and capital equipment requests. Responsible for accurate and timely communication with internal/external customers. Develop and report monthly operating metric
  • Implement cost reduction proposals for effective cost management to remain in a competitive position in the marketplace
  • Recommend/implement process improvements by utilizing Lean manufacturing techniques
  • Remove obstacles and provide solutions as well as the appropriate level of support to maximize opportunities. Set optimal targets, methods and metrics


Collaboration and Partnership

  • Initiate and maintain cross department collaboration between TWS and different stakeholders to ensure projects are executed successfully. Stakeholders are not limited to: Product Development, Category Management, Retail, Jewelry Design Innovation Workshop, Jewelry Supply Planning, Merchandising, Facilities, and Finance
  • Communicate effectively internally and externally to keep team updated on project status, issues, and concerns
  • Proactively flag critical issues for consideration that may impact manufacturing and/or quality of final product
  • Support the retail operation through providing customer tours as requested

Project Management
  • Actively monitor capacity and load. Oversee production projections resulting in on-time delivery of finished goods. Address/resolve any conflicts regarding scheduling, production and personnel. Accountable for on-time delivery of project plan and/or customer related requirements
  • Ensure key product creation process dates/gates are met, tools are effectively utilized, and cross-functional teamwork occurs
  • Monitor and ensure adherence to timelines and accurate completion of projects. Ensure all cross functional partners are updated with any potential impacts to work timelines

Lead, Mentor & Coach
  • Effectively manage staff to meet department expectations and goals; and identify and assess individual and group development opportunities
  • Cultivate talent by leading, mentoring and coaching team. Identify strengths and development opportunities to increase productivity, effectiveness and culture utilizing PMP cycle and continuous feedback moments
  • Inspire, coach and develop staff successfully through clearly established metrics and performance goals as well as performance management process
  • Provide guidance, growth opportunities and performance feedback to create high performing and dynamic teams


Safety

  • Demonstrate safety leadership by routinely communicating to all leaders and employees that safety is a key priority and ensuring that they are engaged in preventing workplace injuries and incidents. Recognize and positively reinforce good safety behaviors while delivering immediate, specific and constructive feedback to employees who demonstrate unsafe work behavior
  • Proactively review all safety and health potential issues in areas of responsibility. Maintain a safe and clean work environment by ensuring compliance with Tiffany & Co. established safety policies and procedures


Qualifications


Required

  • Degree in design or technical discipline with 10+ years relevant experience and deep expertise in fine jewelry
  • Strong Leadership and people management capabilities with cross-functional organizational savviness
  • Experience developing operational strategies to the next level of growth
  • Polished and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills
  • Demonstrated success building relationships across the organizational
  • Proficient Microsoft Office computer skills

Preferred
  • Advanced degree in a technical or business discipline
  • Jewelry manufacturing
  • GIA certification
  • JD Edwards or other enterprise system(s)
