Role and Responsibilities
1. Oversees Elder Care Services’ Senior Volunteer Programs (SVP)
2. Employs, supervises, and trains SVP staff adhering to ECS and CNCS policies.
3. Approves all volunteer assignments and placements and arranges for orientation, training, and supervision with stations and/or project staff.
6. Prepares the budgets for CNCS renewal applications and other ECS proposals.
7. Authorizes all SVP expenditures.
8. Updates MOUs and other appropriate documents with volunteer stations.
9. Maintains and submits reports and information according to procedures mandated by CNCS and ECS.
10. Conducts quarterly volunteer station visits.
11. Implements an accurate record-keeping method to document project activities, services, and volunteer hours.
12. Develops relationships with community agencies and groups that will enhance project and agency objectives as well as in-kind and cash resources.
14. Serves as liaison for SVP at administrative staff meetings, staff training, and other activities integral to ECS.
15. Arranges for formal and regular recognition of volunteers, organizations, and individuals who have contributed to the support of SVP and ECS.
16. Assists and informs the Advisory Council of significant project plans, policies, actions, changes, and problems affecting the project, including resource development.
17. Coordinates with the Advisory Council to evaluate the effectiveness of SVP operational procedures and program activities, and arranges for the Advisory Council to conduct the annual project evaluation.
18. Maintains awareness of gerontology data as well as current information on programs and services available to the elderly.
20. Attends conferences, meetings, and training programs related to the position, including those sponsored by CNCS.
21. Participates in special events such as training, recognition, as requested by ECS President and CEO.
22. Serves as liaison for ECS at outreach events, trainings, networking events, and other activities integral to ECS.
23. Assist with communication and engagement activities including the ECS newsletter, social media, and web updates.
24. Coordinates and assists with outreach projects including, but not limited to, Elder Elf, Big Wheels, and Oktoberfest.
25. Provides other project and agency- related assistance required by ECS President & CEO.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or minimum of three years’ experience in fields of aging, social services, and/or volunteerism.
- Have a minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in volunteer coordination
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in budgeting and grant writing.
- Sound oral and written communication skills as well as public speaking experience.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office required, knowledge of Volunteer Reporter strongly desired.
- Previous experience in resource development and public relations strongly desired
- Interest in working with the elderly strongly desired.
- Ability to work on a team.
- Clean driving record and access to a reliable source of transportation.
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
- Full wrist dexterity at a repetitive motion.
- Ability to stoop, bend, and lift at least 25 pounds.
- Must pass level II criminal history background screen, drug screen, and TB test.
