The Role

The Director of Global Procurement Business office is accountable to create and sustain a world-class Purchaisng Operating System, implement supplier financial risk models, and manage cost models. The Purchasing Operating System includes CR funnel management, reporting, comunications and functional operating calendar cadence. The role will work in close alignment with Finance on cost savings reporting and overall governance to ensure cost reductions are identified , properly managed and forecasted via cost reduction funnel management (across spend types). The role will work to develop an implement an early finanical warning system to identify bankrupt supplier risk and work with cross-functional organization for mitigation plan. Role with work R&D, Engineering others to identify high risk single source suppliers and develop appropriate counter measures.

The role will ensure periodic commodity and market analytics information to leadership and category teams for decision support relative to material inflation, currency fluctiuatons and potential mitigation approaches. This role will also support the development, deployment and training of should cost models and cost breakdown models to support category negotiations, value chain analysis and Engineering/project team cost awareness.
  • Develop and sustain Purchasing Operating system to include KPI reporting, management reports, overall functional cadence, communications and non-material compliance procedures.
  • Identify and implement world-class supplier financial risk models for early bankruptcy notice and mitigations
  • Responsible partner with category management to support strategy development and execution with enabling tools and levers
  • Facilitate and build organizational capability for cost models to enable negotiations and Engineering cost awareness
  • Lead the efforts to use spend analysis data by procurement category leads to identify commercial and/or technical opportunities
  • Lead the market analysis, competitive product, and process benchmarking to identify possible savings and material pricing trends
  • Provide actionable commodity and currency reports relative to SCS spend profile

What We Are Looking For

  • Bachelor of Science in an engineering, supply chain discipline or equivalent, required
  • MBA or MS engineering – preferred
  • Supply Chain certification; CPSM – preferred
  • 15+ years experience in procurment and finacial disciplines, with strong focus on material cost reduction levers, cost modeling and process controls
  • Expert in procurment strategy development, program development, program management, cost model methodology and and overall procurment best practices in project execution, and business case analysis
  • Functional leadership and expert communications
  • Lean or Six Sigma certifications beneficial; equivalent Company training programs in Lean may also considered
  • Excellent organizational skills with a proven track record of continous improvement.
  • Three to five years or more of experience in working with teams in identifying wastes within processes and developing plans and execution strategies and schedules to reduce waste
  • Experience in working with external raw material, component, or finished goods suppliers and driving Lean initiatives
  • Leadership skills to drive for results and act appropriately under pressure
  • Change agent with the ability to lead in the face of ambiguity and complexity
  • Collaborative and effective team player and able to work with teams who are globally dispersed
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) and data management software (SAP preferred)
  • Travel as required by job, estimated at 30% – 35%
