Director, Donor and Community Relations

Job Purpose: The Little Bit Foundation was founded in 2001 and is a leader in breaking down barriers to learning for disadvantaged children in the St. Louis area by providing for their basic needs. We will serve 14,000 students in 42 partner schools over the next year. In every school, Little Bit serves as the convener of programs and services that support district and school performance goals and address the needs of the whole child. We do this by marshaling resources and specialized providers, when necessary, and working one-on-one with each child to support his or her personal care, classroom readiness, reading proficiency, and health and wellness. The results are positive personal growth and increased self-esteem in students impacted by poverty, leading to improved attendance, behavior and academic success.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
The Director of Donor and Community Relations reports to the Chief Development Officer (CDO), and together they will work to create and direct the department’s priorities and strategies for increasing funds raised for the organization. Donors and organizations targeted will center on those with $25,000 and below potential. Key duties include:
- Achieves annual fundraising goals with new, current and lapsed donors.
- Supervises the Development Associate who manages the donor database. Oversees all incoming contributions and assures accuracy of reports and data.
- Supervises and assists the Volunteer Coordinator who is in charge of leading the coordination of drives for groups corporations and individuals.
- Establish and manage information tracking processes with the Donor Perfect system regarding acknowledgement, recognition, ongoing communications, invoices, and cultivation of past and current donors and members to enhance their relationship with TLBF and increase the likelihood of continued contributions.
- Discovers donor companies’ corporate responsibility and /or workplace giving objectives, identify opportunities that align with TLBF mission statement and work with staff to create engagement initiatives and opportunities.
- Works collaboratively with staff, especially the rest of the Development team, to meet annual revenue and engagement goals.
- Work with CDO to create solicitation and year-round engagement strategies to retain current and attract new donors
- Attends internal and external meetings with key donors.
- Responsible for networking in the community with key influencers such as the Urban League, St. Louis Regional Chamber of Commerce, North County Inc., the Construction Forum, and other events that will lead to new relationships as well as a deeper understanding of the key issues and programs being championed in the greater community.
- Assist with securing corporate sponsorships for all Events.
- Assist with developing and implementing Department Policies and Procedures
- New Hire on-boarding, preparation and training
- Assist with reviewing development mailings criteria (Annual Report, Holiday Card, etc.)
- Close out month, reconcile financials monthly-Review all reporting for each months financial donations and in-kind donations and services
- Oversee pledges, invoicing and payments monthly –for all general donations outside of events
- Open mail and assist with coding daily for donor database records
- Assist CDO/Deveolpment Associate with department financials weekly and annually audit preparation.
- Create and maintain a Development Pipeline and maintain Pipelines from past years
- Agency and school tours-provide agency tours for any scheduled or unscheduled guests in addition to scheduling logistics for all school tours for cultivated donors
- School Representative- Weekly school visits with assigned school, identifying individual needs, ordering and delivering items.
- Maintain physical donor communication materials and inventory of general development team supplies.
- Provide professional assistance and interaction with donors via phone, computer and face to face
- All other duties assigned by CDO.
