The Director, Legal Counsel reports to the Senior Vice President, General Counsel and will primarily have responsibility for managing general litigation matters, focusing on complex commercial, product liability, antitrust, employment, environmental, and assisting on other matters as needed.
- Oversee and actively manage and defend/prosecute Companyâs portfolio of general litigation matters, focusing primarily on complex commercial, product liability, antitrust, employment, environmental and other matters as needed.
- Work with legal department personnel to facilitate and coordinate production of discovery documents and electronically stored information.
- Serve as liaison between internal business personnel and external counsel for purpose of defending and/or prosecuting litigation including witness preparation and background investigation.
- Review and manage litigation budgets and external counsel expenditures.
- Assist in preparation of internal litigation reports and securities filings reporting on material litigation.
- Prepare and organize responses to subpoenas and government inquiries.
- Engage in case assessment for settlement or alternative dispute resolution.
- Other projects and duties as required/assigned.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of litigation experience, which experience should include foundational training at an Am Law firm.
- Bar Admission: Admitted in good standing to the bar of at least one state and eligible for admission to the New Jersey bar as in-house counsel.
- Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from a nationally recognized and preferably top-ranked, ABA accredited law school.
- Top academic credentials.
- Admitted in good standing to the bar of at least one state and eligible for admission to the New Jersey bar as in-house counsel.
- Minimum of 6 years of civil litigation experience, which experience should include foundational training at an Am Law firm.
- Extensive experience in discovery and electronically stored information (ESI).
Preferred
- Civil trial experience as is pharmaceutical/life science industry experience.
- Pharmaceutical/life science industry experience.
