The future CEO must have an entrepreneurial mindset, teambuilding skills, financial strength, strategic planning experience, an understanding of how to capitalize on the changing demographics of the club industry, having a clear focus as an agent for change and will develop an inclusive member-centric and relationship business. Visibility and member engagement are critical, as is having the ability to partner with and help guide the Board in a respectful manner to develop and achieve the Club’s goals.

CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER POSITION OVERVIEW

The Chief Executive Officer reports to the Club’s Board of Governors (BOG). The CEO is expected to provide inspired leadership, be an agent for change that inspires a forward-thinking management style ensuring that members and guests enjoy an exceptional Club experience. He or She is responsible for developing a Club culture that fosters the comradery of members.

The CEO manages and oversees all day-to-day aspects of the Club and its operations, relationships between the Club and its leadership, members, guests, employees, community, government and industry, and has the authority to carry out these responsibilities in accordance with the direction and policies established by the BOGs to ensure that Minneapolis Club maintains its reputation as one of the premier clubs in the country.

Having full operational responsibility for the Club, the CEO will be responsible and accountable to develop, monitor and manage the Annual Operating Plan and Budget and Capital Strategy. Of primary importance is ensuring high-quality membership experiences, growing the membership and ensuring that programming and member services are continually evaluated and enhanced.

Catering Director, Club Facilities Engineer, Controller, Executive Assistant, Executive Chef, Fitness Director, Food & Beverage Director, Front Desk Manager, Housekeeper, Membership Director, Parking Manager

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS

  • A genuine passion for service excellence in all areas of operation
  • Progressive senior management or Chief Executive Officer experience at a similar quality club
  • Integrity, visibility, creativity and energy, outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent Board and Committee relationships, providing visionary leadership and sound guidance
  • Exceptional financial and budgeting acumen
  • Demonstrated skills in food and beverage operations
  • Strong organizational and operational management skills
  • An impeccable career path ensuring the highest standards of operation and attention to detail
  • Foster a spirit of respect and decency among the employees and members
  • Excellent marketing skills and a proven record of membership retention and recruitment
  • Integrity, visibility, creativity and energy, outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong Capital Improvement, Construction and Strategic Planning skills
  • Experience with union work forces is desirable

EDUCATION

  • A BS or BA degree (or equivalent) from an accredited college or university, preferably in business or hospitality management is required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a similar role, preferably in a high-end member-based facility, hotel, resort or similar member organization.
  • A CCM and CCE designation or similar accreditation outside of the club industry is desirable.
