The Associate Vice President of Brand Marketing is responsible for day-to-day management of all marketing functions, including the execution of marketing campaigns intended to increase member and public engagement. AVP Brand Marketing will develop and implement a marketing roadmap across all campaigns, initiatives and projects, and will focus on upholding the Girl Scout brand and delight and inform our internal membership so that their ability to serve as ambassadors of our brand will be strengthened.

Essential Functions:
1. Provide direct supervision and leadership for a professional team up to four people tasked with execution of day-to-day marketing projects.
2. In collaboration with the marketing team, develop, implement, analyze, and optimize integrated marketing campaigns to increase engagement in Girl Scouts.
3. Create metrics and evaluate the success of marketing campaigns and strategies.
4. Manage mass marketing emails. In coordination with other marketing staff, develop and track email campaigns to increase our organization’s email marketing success.
5. In partnership with the AVP of Media Relations, develop consistent messaging, create a vision and lead the execution of creative marketing campaigns—including Camp, Membership Recruitment, Opportunities Promotion, Philanthropy, the Cookie Sale and Membership Renewal – with ownership of specific campaigns.
6. Collectively work on strategy and creating content for consistent messaging that staff, board and community partners utilize to advance the council.
7. Work with all departments to ensure consistent messaging and visual design of activities and initiatives ensuring appropriate use of Girls Scouts of Western Washington brand.
8. Support the AVP Media Relations with crisis communications.
9. Lead cross-functional team tasked with internal and external communications about the organization’s projects and initiatives.
10. Take an active leadership role representing our team on various committees and collaborating with other departments.
11. Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervision
This position supervises three positions directly (Sr. Graphic Designer, Project Manager and Printer) and one indirectly (Graphic Designer).
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Journalism, or related field, OR equivalent work experience.
- A minimum of five years’ of progressively responsible experience in marketing or communications.
- Minimum of one-year experience managing staff.
- Previous experience communicating compelling stories and writing persuasive copy to meet the needs of different audiences and communication channels.
- Demonstrated experience with proofreading and editing written content.

- Strong sense of professionalism and social media etiquette in order to appropriately represent the brand.
- Experience planning, managing, and implementing effective email campaigns, with a passion for using these tools to engage and build community.
- Knowledge of website usability concepts and techniques including familiarity with SEO and online advertising best practices.
- Experience in development and administration of budgets and work plans.
- Experience analyzing and reporting on campaign-related data to improve results.
- Experience marketing to and communicating with under-served populations desired.
- Demonstrated success supporting team collaboration and communication.
- Demonstrated success working with and communicating to volunteers preferred.
- Willingness and ability to demonstrate a commitment to support the organization’s efforts to enhance the diversity and cultural and global awareness of volunteers, girls and staff.
- Knowledge of youth development helpful.
- Skilled in Outlook and Word and familiar with Excel, Access or other database program.
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task, prioritize deadlines, work independently, take initiative and maintain confidentiality.
- Valid Washington State driver’s license, proof of insurance, or the ability to fulfill timely and occasional travel requirements across widespread regional geography.
- Satisfactory results from criminal background search.
- Maintain Girl Scouts membership.
