JOB TITLE: Associate Director
DEPARTMENT: Marketing & Communications
SUPERVISOR: Director of Marketing & Communications
- PURPOSE OF THE JOB (What are the end results or objectives of this position? Why does the job exist?)
This job exists to aid in marketing and communicating the overall message of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and the College at Southeastern by assisting in strategy, oversight and process through all print and digital efforts.
- ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES (What duties are required for the position to exist? Estimate the percentage of time spent in each.)
- Primary creator and strategist for email marketing and segmentation.
- Primary manager for external social media accounts (e.g., SEBTS and College at Southeastern), and content strategy.
- Team leader for all other institutional social media accounts, as managed by various departments on campus
- Assist the Director by developing, casting vision & offering oversight for primary external website for SEBTS and the College at Southeastern
- Assist the Director in office oversight
- Assist the Director in public and media relations efforts
- Give oversight for departmental website strategy
- Assist the Director as assigned.
- OTHER DUTIES & REPONSIBILITIES (Responsibilities/important duties performed occasionally or in addition to the essential duties of the position.)
- Assist faculty and staff as needed with individual social media strategies related to promotion of the institution
- Help with development and execution of overall messaging strategy for the Southern Baptist Convention
- Assist in strategic direction for Southeastern Magazine, Giving Tuesday, even marketing, and advertising allocation.
- SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES (Provide the number and type of employees supervised, level of authority to hire and fire or to make recommendations.)
- Give oversight to other Marketing & Communications employees as assigned by the Director of Communications, particularly relating to project management.
- Give partial oversight to the Administrative Assistant to the Marketing & Communications office, particularly relating to website edits and social media aid.
- Work with other departments and give oversight specifically in the management of departmental websites and social media accounts in compliance with institutional policy and branding standards.
- KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS (Indicate which are required, preferred, or desirable. Include licenses and certificates.)
- Required
- Three years experience in the Communication field, preferably in the area of email marketing, advertising campaigns, and segmentation.
- Bachelorâs degree in Marketing, Communications, or related field OR comparable experience.
- General knowledge of Social Media and use thereof.

- FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY (Budgeting responsibilities, approval privileges on purchase orders and check requests, reporting and auditing functions.)
- Assists the Director of Marketing and Communications in budget allocation decisions
