  • Full Job Description

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • The assistant director would assume full responsibility for management in the director’s absence.
    • The assistant ensures compliance with all federal and state laws, as well as all Great Starts CDC operating procedures are being followed daily.
    • The assistant director will assist in completing and submitting required paperwork and record keeping on a timely basis, and maintaining in an organized, up-to-date manner.
    • They would take an active role in planning and participating in center activities (staff meetings, training sessions, open houses, holiday events, community events).
    • The assistant director would be expected to perform all duties assigned to the teachers during a portion of day if the assigned teacher is absent and the assistant director is needed to cover ratio in the classroom.
    • The assistant director would be expected to develop and maintain positive, professional working relationship with the staff, the parents and the children.
    • They would assist in daily supervision of the staff; keep the director up-to-date of staff concerns and situations needing attention; provides performance review input to director.
    • The assistant director would assist the director with staff scheduling, posting job ads, interviewing, and the hiring.
    • They would answer questions about enrollment, follow up with families who have reached out for child care, and give center tours to interested parents in order to increase enrollment.
    • The assistant director assists in recognizing parental concerns, evaluation of the course of action and responding professionally to parents’ needs.
    • The assistant director would be in charge of training staff to plan and implement developmentally appropriate classroom activities.
    • They would provide feedback to the director on quality control issues and assists in resolving quality control issues.
    • Is required for completing at least 20 hours of approved continued training during the licensing year.
    • The assistant director would work a part time schedule, but needs to be flexible in case full time work is offered.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Candidate must be able to pass a Background and Finger Print check.
    • Candidate must have 30 STARS training certification.
    • Candidate must have Associate of Early Childhood Education and 2 years experience working in a child care center.
    • Candidate must have Infant, Toddler, Adult CPR/First Aid, HIV/Blood Borne Pathogens certification, Food Handlers certification, Medication Management, Safe Sleep, and Child Abuse and Neglect certification.
    • Candidate must have a negative TB test and MMR vaccine on record.
    • Must be able to lift no less than 40 pounds on a consistent basis throughout the workday, be able to be on their feet for 4 hours or more on a consistent basis, and be able to hear well in loud environments.

    SALARY & BENEFITS

    • $16,800 to $20,400 a year depending on amount of hours scheduled, education and experience.
