PAWS Brave Hearts is a no/kill, non-profit organization working on the forefront of animal welfare in Washington County, Maine. The Shelter Manager is responsible for ensuring high-quality, compassionate transitional care for stray, neglected, abused and surrendered companion animals who are cared for at our main facility and in foster homes. Transitional care includes medical, emotional and behavioral care performed by staff, volunteers, and professional service providers, including veterinary clinics and others, that leads to adoption readiness and placement in a new family.
The Shelter Manager works with a broad array of people within established animal care and facility protocols to continually improve the organizationâs Capacity to Care, achieve the shortest Length of Stay in the best interest of each animal that comes to PAWS, facilitate both on- and off-site adoptions, and participate actively in humane education activities.
The ideal candidate will be passionate about animal welfare with a track record of being highly reliable, personable, and detail-oriented, including: 1) experience working with animals in a shelter and/or medical setting; 2) an educational background in a closely related field; 3) proven interpersonal, team and conflict management skills; and 4) strong computer skills in excel, Microsoft word, database management, report preparation and social media.
