What we are looking for:
The VP of Sales is responsible for the architecture of the overall sales vision and strategy. This position will report directly to the President and will be a critical member of the Senior Leadership Team. TentCraft is currently a ~$15m/year company looking to double in size, and we need someone to help us build and execute the plan to get there. This position requires a seasoned, process-oriented sales leader who can find, develop, lead, and retain a strong sales team full of A-Players only. You are a visionary and masterful sales strategist, but you also love to dig into the tactical “stuff” to identify continuous improvement opportunities. We operate in the fast-paced and sometimes stressful world of event marketing, so you will be the most successful in this role if you can lead and motivate with enthusiasm, grit, and quick wit.
Key Accountabilities:
- Management- Execute on the company’s sales strategies to meet or exceed revenue and profitability goals. Assess the performance of all sales team members and hold them accountable to their goals. Identify sales developmental needs, and hire/train/develop expertise in these areas to increase sales performance
- Leadership- You must be a model of company culture as you hire, train, coach, and develop your staff; aligning sales principles and practices to our customer and employee-centric culture
- Sales enablement- Give salespeople the tools that they need to succeed. Utilize data to optimize sales performance while simultaneously improving the customer experience
- Revenue forecasting- Develop strategic sales plan with a heavy focus on new business development
- New Products- Partner with VP of Manufacturing to diversify and expand our product catalog.
- New Revenue Channels- Challenge the status quo and enhance the organization by promoting innovative ideas and new ways of going to market. This is where you get creative, and a fail fast mentality is critical
- Customer Experience- The TentCraft customer experience is one that sets us apart from our competitors. You will help ensure that the customer is at the forefront of everything we do. You will be the voice of the customer in most internal meetings.
- Make it Better- Constantly audit and assess the sales process; work cross-functionally to identify and eliminate waste
What you need:

- 10+ years of combined sales strategy expertise, directly supporting a team of sales leaders
- Hands-on experience building, scaling and managing a sales team
- Proven track record of high-level execution; managing tasks, details, and people without dropping the ball; eager to roll up your sleeves and delve into rapidly changing details
- Salesforce experience. We are a Salesforce shop, and while we do have a technology team to assist, you must be able to navigate yourself around our system
- Outstanding analytical skills and judgment. Can gather information, develop models, weigh relevant factors and make decisions based on data, trends, and past experience
- Efficient, motivated self-starter. Performs at a high level of efficiency; documents and completes work in a timely manner. Strives to increase productivity in others
- You will partner constantly with all cross-functional teams so you must to be able to adapt to different personalities and styles
- A growth mindset; you thrive on challenge and treat failure as a springboard for growth. You are ok stretching our capabilities, constantly finding lessons and inspiration from the success of others. The initial focus will be on the sales team, but you will probably assume responsibility for other customer-facing departments once you are up to speed
