Founded in 1999, the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN) is dedicated to fighting the world’s toughest cancer. In our urgent mission to save lives, we attack pancreatic cancer on all fronts: research, clinical initiatives, patient services and advocacy. Our effort is amplified by a nationwide network of grassroots support. We are determined to improve patient outcomes today and to double survival.

We are currently seeking a Vice President of Finance, who will be a key stakeholder in the leadership, strategy and analytical efficiency of the Finance and Accounting department. The Vice President of Finance will partner with the CFO in the development of PanCAN’s overall financial management strategy and contribute to refining and successfully achieving the organization’s strategic goals.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The VP’s daily responsibility will include oversight of all accounting and finance functions, and engaging PanCAN’s highly-skilled staff and comprehensive internal resources to exercise best business practices in the finance department, specifically as they pertain to a nationally recognized non-profit organization. The VP will focus special attention to emerging trends in leadership, philanthropy, government and tax related developments, internal controls, and other developments that may impact gift-based revenue.

The Vice President of Finance is expected to be an experienced executive with a proven track record of creative problem-solving, the ability to work with a diverse and rapidly growing staff, and a desire to make an impact as part of a unique, impactful mission-driven organization.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
The following are the minimum qualifications which an individual need in order to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities of this position.

  • Four-year college or university degree in Finance or Accounting, CPA or other equivalent certification.
  • Minimum of 7-10+ years progressively responsible accounting experience including supervision of staff.
  • Knowledge of not-for-profit accounting and familiarity with industry practices.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to manage employees including staffing, training, coaching, motivating and discipline.
  • Adept in use of Financial Edge software or demonstrated experience with similar NFP financial systems highly desirable. Familiarity with Raiser’s Edge and/or related products a plus.
