Position Overview

The Program Director of Assisted Competitive Employment (ACE) Employment Services will supervise the employment services program, providing vocational services including job development, job placement and referrals to other support services as needed.


Responsibilities:
  • Under the supervision of the Regional Director, position is responsible for immediate supervision of all Supportive Employment staff regarding, facility condition, consumer contact, maintaining consumer charts, compliance with HUD regulation and agency policies and procedures
  • Responsible for the design and implementation of vocational programming, such as job search skills, resume writing and interviewing, interest and skills testing and personality
  • Identify and contact local businesses in which consumers could work in order to develop employment positions for the consumer
  • Develop job descriptions of positions obtained and match position with consumers
  • Work with employers and site supervisors to ensure that the consumer performs duties in a satisfactory manner
  • Utilize information resources (e.g. DOL and local employers) to develop and maintain an information pool of the local labor market and trends affecting it
  • Liaise between SUS Supportive Employment Program (SEP) and Psychosocial/Club Program
  • Responsible for familiarity with HUD laws and regulations as they apply to the Supportive Employment Program
  • Responsible for familiarity with SUS agency policies and procedures as the apply to the Supportive Employment Program
  • Provide emergency coverage as necessary
  • Provides bi-weekly supervisory meetings with staff and maintains appropriate documentation of these meetings
  • Provides the Program Director with summary of the quarterly QA chart reviews conducted
  • Reviews with staff and provides individual assistance including training to correct any chart deficiencies
  • Conduct bi-weekly case conference meetings and assures a semi-annual presentation of SEP cases at conference
  • Assigns consumers to an SUS SEP staff member (Vocational Counselor or possible a Peer Counselor.)

The ACE program at SUS provides vocational services to persons with psychiatric disabilities. The approach is a non-traditional and non-medical model and focuses on two key areas: (1) locating employment without prior requirements for training and (2) assisting consumers in obtaining and maintaining employment.

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Human Service area or related field is required.
  • CRC (Certified Rehabilitation Counselor) is strongly prefered.
  • Three years experience working with special needs population. Two years experience in job development and job placement with mentally ill population preferred.
  • Experience with staff supervision.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; demonstrated ability to interact professionally with diverse staff, consumers, and other stakeholders.
