The primary purpose of this position is to lead the Office of Transfer Services, both in its strategic direction and its complex daily operations using exceptional leadership and supervisory skills including office policy development and implementation, staff development and supervision, and the formulation and implementation of transition and retention strategies/initiatives to create a seamless integration of transfer students into the campus community. Duties and responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to the following: * Provides leadership for the transfer credit evaluation process including defining, enhancing and establishing standard operating procedures and best business practices for the various types of transfer credit evaluation processes. * Managing articulation catalog updates and curriculum changes with the Academic Policies and Procedures committee and academic departments at Appalachian and Comprehensive Articulation Agreement changes implemented by the North Carolina Community College system. * Collaborates with key partners to create articulation agreements that support seamless transfer and help meet the enrollment goals of the university. * Provides external relations with community colleges to build relationships and regular communication channels. * Serves as the transfer ombuds person, acting as a trusted intermediary between the University and prospective transfer students/community colleges while representing the broad scope of constituent interests regarding the articulation of transfer credit. * Ensures the Office of Transfer Services impacts the quality of students? educational experiences by helping prepare them for success at Appalachian through design and delivery of programs, communication, policies, and seminars that educate faculty, staff and students, and ultimately improve one-on-one advising of students. * Supervises the collaborative Jump Start Appalachian transfer program, which works with prospective and admitted transfer students with a specific focus on partner community colleges to help with the transition to Appalachian and assesses transfer risk factors to gain an understanding to improve the retention, persistence, and graduation rates of transfer students.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master?s degree in Higher Education or a related field completed by start date, and significant experience related to academic advising, post-secondary transfer credit practices, or curriculum analysis.
