The Assistant Director of Development will work independently to develop, manage and execute a fundraising plan and cultivate relationships for the assigned areas associated with the ECU Educational Foundation (Pirate Club). This person will serve as an external fundraiser for the Pirate Club managing several chapters while working with Chapter Presidents and Volunteer Representatives as part of their portfolio to increase total Pirate Club contributions and overall membership. Primary focus will be on relationship cultivation though in-person donor visits and visits with prospective donors while working independently and utilizing traditional fundraising tactics as well as new ideas. Additionally, this position will strategize and implement new opportunities to engage donors, alumni and fans with an emphasis on increasing overall Pirate Club membership. Reporting to the Assistant Athletics Director of Development, the Assistant Director will serve as a member of the Pirate Club?s external fundraising team and will be responsible for the following primary duties: – Effectively manage a portfolio of annual fund donors and prospects towards increased annual fund contributions and level of engagement. – Conduct in-person visits with Pirate Club donors and/or prospective Pirate Club donors. – Work with Pirate Club Chapter Presidents and Volunteer Representatives in assigned areas to effectively lead Pirate Club fundraising initiatives to increased membership and successful special events. – Actively build and develop a prospect pipeline of annual fund and major gift donors. – Support all capital campaign projects, premium seating programs and endowment funds. – Provide excellent customer service and donor stewardship. – Serve as a positive member of the ECU, Greenville and Pitt County communities by participating in university and community activities. – Contribute to the overall success of the ECU Athletics Department and the Pirate Club by taking initiative to perform all other duties and responsibilities assigned. – Build quality relationships and work collaboratively with the Pirate Club staff, Executive Committee, Athletics Department staff, University staff, as well as students, businesses, and various other constituency groups. – Work effectively with a culturally diverse community and advance the department?s commitment to diversity and inclusion. – Perform duties with professional conduct, confidentiality, fiscal responsibility and a commitment to Athletic Department success. – Abide by all written policies, procedures and guidelines of East Carolina University, the Department of Athletics, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), and all applicable conferences or associations. – Understanding of how to navigate and function within a large, complex institutional environment. – Ability to engage diverse stakeholders, strengthening their commitment to the organization and achieving their philanthropic support. – Ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
Minimum Qualifications:
– Bachelor?s Degree and one year of professional fundraising or graduate level work or related experience. – Excellent communications skills and customer service. – Technology proficiency including Microsoft Office and electronic databases. – Ability to travel locally and regionally. Night, weekend and holiday work required on occasion. – Qualifying degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions and conferred by the time of hire.
