Summary: This position is responsible for the hands-on management and completion of Information Technology Department projects at Union Supply locations as well as customer locations. This position configures, monitors, and provides support on designated Information Systems and manages assigned IT projects in Server Room, Data Center and Warehouse environments as required. Participates in discussions and IT Department meetings regarding the upgrade and support of Warehouse Management Systems and IT system management and security applications. Prepare and maintain all essential project documentation such as Project Plans, Charters, Network Diagrams, Rack Elevations, Test Plans, correspondence, etc.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Manage the deployment, monitoring and support of Information Systems that are used for Union Supply off-site warehouses and related technologies required for order and inventory management, and the fulfillment of sales orders from a warehouse environment.
  • Coordinate, schedule, and manage contractors as needed for project objectives.
  • Prepare and manage project budgets and schedules to achieve financial objectives and project timelines.
  • Effectively manage all project communications for all assigned IT related projects including Project Charters, Statements of Work, internal memos and Project Status Reports.
  • Review project tasks with stakeholders and take action to reduce the risks and minimize the effects of unforeseen changes or events.
  • Provide direction to technical personnel and contracted technicians for both the installation and support of Information System and Warehouse Management software solutions.
  • Report to and/or advise senior management regarding Information Systems project plans, project risks, security risks and concerns, customer requests for scope changes, etc.
  • Conduct site surveys of offsite warehouses and facilities to document and propose hardware recommendations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director or Technical Services.

Experience:

  • 5years of technical project management related to commercial off the shelf and/or custom built information systems or solutions.
  • 3-5 years of experience providing support to end users, troubleshooting hardware/software issues and installing desktops, laptops and peripheral equipment.
  • 2-3 years of related experience deploying computer hardware and equipment in server room or co-location facilities; installing and configuring software applications; and testing orquality control of project implementations.
  • A minimum of 2-4 years desktop PC/laptop support, technology support and/or Help desk experience.
  • Proficiency using Word, Excel, Outlook, Visio, PowerPoint, PC hardware and printers.
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Very strong system and performance troubleshooting experience.
  • Must have superior customer services kills and experience and able to interact with customers regarding contract requirements and support issues.

Other Knowledge, Skills, Abilities or Certifications:

  • Associate’s Degree or a Technical College Certifications is required.
  • Diligence and attention to detail are required.
  • Formal training and certification in project management is desired.
  • Certifications in Operating Systems, networking, virtualization, backup, storage technologies or certificates of completion are preferred.
  • Familiarity with wide-range of Microsoft products including operating systems, servers, Active Directory, and productivity applications.
  • Able to troubleshoot and resolve PC hardware and software issues and document issues and problem resolutions in a trouble ticket system.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high pressure environment.

The position will require travel to off-site locations to assist with system setup and training of external users; up to 30% travel is anticipated. Must have the ability to occasionally lift no more than 60lbs. at one time. The ability to act in a professional manner as a representative of Union Supply Group is a must.
