Housekeeping Director

Friedwald Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing is currently seeking a Housekeeping Director to assist in supervising the day-to-day activities of the Housekeeping Department in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and governing our facility, to assure that our facility is maintained in a clean, safe, and comfortable manner.

The ideal candidate must be energetic, organized, detail oriented, and have strong multitasking abilities. Candidates should be able and willing to help in any area of the housekeeping or laundry department as needed.


Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Assume the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability of supervising the housekeeping department.
  • Supervise the day-to-day housekeeping functions of assigned personnel.
  • Set up housekeeping standards.
  • Implement OSHA regulations as they pertain to housekeeping/laundry departments.
  • Develop procedures for performing daily housekeeping tasks in accordance with facility policy.
  • Prepare schedule for work assignments/cleaning schedules, etc.
  • Plan and conduct in-service training programs.
  • Coordinate daily housekeeping services with nursing service when performing routine cleaning assignments in resident living and/or recreational areas.
  • Assure proper care and use of housekeeping/laundry equipment.
  • Submit injury/incident reports to the director of staff development immediately.
  • Report any observed area in poor repair to the Facility Administrator and to the maintenance department.
  • Prevent the spread of infection through proper handling, storage, washing and transporting of all garments and linens.
  • Keep MSDS book updated with all new chemicals of housekeeping and laundry departments.
  • Performs daily rounds to ensure a healthy, clean safe environment is maintained at all times.
  • Responsible for ensuring proper safety measures are used when housekeeping/laundry duties are being performed (e.g. wet floor signs, chemicals are secure and labeled, etc.)
  • Supervise proper labeling and handling of all resident’s clothing.
  • Comply with state, federal and OSHA regulations. Comply with all facility policies and procedures. Ensures all state and federal guidelines are met.


Qualifications:

  • Must possess, as a minimum, a high school diploma or GED.
  • Must be familiar with care of various types of floors, with cleaning materials, etc., and with cleaning and general housekeeping methods and equipment.
  • Must be knowledgeable of housekeeping practices and procedures in a nursing care facility or Hospital.
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years in management experience.
  • Must have the ability to plan organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, procedures, etc., of the housekeeping department.
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public.
  • Must be proficient in basic computer programs.
