Comfort Inn, Downtown Detroit is looking for an operations manager to add to our team. The Operations Manager must have the ability to independently manage the day-to-day operations/activities of the Hotel staff. Perform other duties as assigned including assisting staff with their job functions during peak periods as well as support for the Hotel as a whole. Responsibilities:
- Support the General Manager to ensure staff receives proper training for each position, including safety training and standard operating procedures
- Ensure all brand standards are being maintained
- Hire, manage, schedule and supervise local staff in a hospitality environment
- Directly oversee Front Office, Housekeeping, Maintenance and Breakfast.
- Monitors cost controls for each department on a regular basis
- Inspect guests’ rooms, public access areas, and outside grounds for cleanliness and appearance
- Answer guest complaints and resolves problems to maintain Guest Satisfaction
- Assist the General Manager with resolving employee issues
- Adhere to all franchise and company procedures and regulations as well as standard operating procedures
- Ensure employee paperwork, work schedules and payroll are completed and submitted in a timely manner
- Audit daily reports and processes monthly reports
- Order supplies and equipment as needed and in accordance with company procedures
- Maintain excellent communication with all employees
- Cover shifts in all departments as needed to ensure coverage or when overtime is not approved
- Complete a property walk twice a day and ensure the property is cleaned and well maintained at all times
- Assist team supervisors and managers with constructive coaching and counseling
- Implement department incentives
- Focus on guest satisfaction scores
- Motivates and empowers staff to solve guest issues
- Ensures training and on boarding of all new team members are thorough and completed in a timely fashion
- Ensure brand and cleanliness standards are followed by Housekeeping Department.

- Conducting daily/weekly meetings to ensure that all departments are in working order
- Fully responsible for all aspects of all departments.
- Anticipate all guest needs and respond promptly & accordingly
- Establish and maintain standards for staff performance and customer service
- Maintaining full knowledge of all inner working of the hotel, including room rates, hotel policies, specials, availabilities, hotel events and more.
- Staffing the hotel appropriately
- Reviewing employee behavior, appearance and performance
- Ensure any maintenance or repairs are scheduled around our guests, and ensure units are to standards afterward
