General Manager Job Posting:

Dogtopia, the industry leader in dog daycare, boarding, and spa services has an immediate opening for an energetic, organized, business-minded individual to lead our team as General Manager. This is a role for someone with a management background who understands hard work, how to deliver and train others to provide top customer service and ensure a great environment for the dogs in our care. This person should love dogs – and, upon successful completion of training, you can even bring YOUR dog to work with you! What a bonus!

The responsibilities of a General Manager include but may not be limited to the following:

õ Team Management

o Creates staffing schedule and monitors daily schedules made by assistant managers (AMs).

o Maintains optimum staffing levels through interviewing and developing all team members.

o Leads by example by being a professional and respectful example for the team. Coaching all on contributing to a positive team-oriented culture.

o Maintains accountability for company policies and procedures. Documenting, writing and delivering corrective actions when necessary.

o Delivers written performance reviews.

o Sets concise goals for the AMs and holds them accountable to developing the team by offering positive feedback and training.

o Meets standards on new hire paperwork, does orientation and follows timeline on training during probationary period.

õ Clean and Safe Environment

o Maintains and update cleaning schedules as needed. Holds team accountable to standards through consistent oversight and review.

o Holds AMs accountable to proactively assign additional cleaning tasks as necessary to ensure high level of sanitation and an odor-free environment.

o Continuous training of team on safe dog handling and workplace safety with thorough reviews of any dog incidents to provide necessary feedback and training. Develops AMs and front desk team in handling tough client conversations.

o Dismisses dogs proactively with ongoing behavior issues and monitors action plans to retain those with minor issues.

o Maintains detailed records of health and behavior. Reviews regularly along with incident and accident reports. Consistently monitoring logs and communications on dog behavior, health and team performance. Ensure entire team reviews activity log as required.

õ Financial and Administrative

o Ensures all company policies and procedures are understood and followed by the entire team.

o Manages groomers including quality control of work, safety, schedules and client records.

o Audits weekly Point of Sale System records for accuracy including vaccinations, address changes, and credit cards.

o Develops team in up-selling and using dog evaluations to grow revenue.

o Maintains controllable expenses within budgetary constraints including forecasting, tracking and ordering supplies, minimizing payroll, and actively look for ways to maximize efficiency.

o Marketing of the store including instore initiatives, out of store events, community outreach, social media participation, partnerships and networking to actively growing the business.

o Maintains overview of the building at all times including, but not limited to, how it is viewed by the customer and looks for any potential maintenance or safety issues and the security of the building.

o Assists in establishing vendor relationships to lower cost and maximize productivity

o Communicates any concerns or needs to franchise owner proactively and partnering after attempting to resolve issues

o Tracks Revenue Goals and aggressively seek out ways to raise revenue and profitability. Foster a culture that leads the team to be able to speak to the goals and possess ownership in the success or failure of the business

õ Customer Service & Presentation

o Maintains a neat and organized Front Desk team and area at all times. This includes holding team to professional clean dress.

o Sets the example for the team on the 3 S’s (smile, story and satisfaction) and hold accountable to internal and external customer service standards.

o Ensures all playroom team members contribute to playroom notes, complete report cards and understand good customer service requirements.

o Utilizes Systino/Listen360 surveys effectively to maintain customer satisfaction by taking immediate action to address unsatisfied clients and thanking those that rate us high. Target should be 90% or higher client satisfaction rating for the rolling 3 month period.

o Oversees the retail area and develop the team in merchandising and product rotation.

***It is essential the GM has working knowledge of all roles within the store to be able to fill-in as needed. The General Manager is responsible for the success or failure of the business and team. This individual needs to be able to actively speak to the plan, budget, revenue and health of the store at all times as well as the level of development of the team. ***

This position requires working 50+ hours per week (occasionally more).
