Residential weight loss camp in Madeira Beach, FL looking to hire a competent Fitness Director to manage fitness side of operation. 20-25 hours per week. The Fitness Director will be the lead trainer at the camp (averaging 12-15 hours of training the clients per week), and manage and grow a competent team of personal trainers (to handle the additional 5-10 hours of training per week).

You will be responsible for each client’s fitness assessment: weight, body measurements, physical fitness assessment.

You will be training both male and female clients from all walks of life, with the potential for a wide variety of fitness levels in the same group/class. The majority of our clients are 50+ years old and have 50+ pounds to lose.

Since we train as a small group, being able to provide modifications based on each client’s fitness level/physical abilities or limitations is required for this position. This will include monitoring old injuries/pain points, providing modifications when necessary, watching heart rates, correcting form, etc.

Must be willing and able to learn about and adapt to our residential weight loss way of training and mindset. This is not a typical gym setting.

You will also oversee other trainers’ interactions with clients on an ongoing basis, and ensure that trainers are punctual, professional and providing safe, exceptional workouts.

To be successful in this role, you must be able to assess each client’s fitness level/physical abilities or limitations and confidently make decisions regarding each client’s training needs. Preferred applicants are effective multitaskers, have the ability to motivate others and are observant.

Responsibilities:

  • Early Monday morning client fitness assessment (weight, body measurements, physical fitness assessment).
  • Developing and implementing a training program, and evaluating effectiveness (client satisfaction, i.e. fitness gains and weight lost) on an ongoing basis.
  • Training new staff members.
  • Providing staff with ongoing assistance and training.
  • Collaborating with staff members to ensure cleanliness and tidiness of facilities, and maintenance of equipment.
  • Covering for personal trainers in their absence.


Requirements:

  • Certified Group Fitness Instructor/Personal Trainer.
  • CPR/AED certification.
  • Experience with clients of all ages, fitness levels/abilities.
  • Able to think on your feet and incorporate modifications or additional challenges to accommodate/challenge each client.
  • Experience in fitness management position (managing other trainers) is a plus.
  • Available to work early Monday and Saturday mornings. No work on Sundays, Thanksgiving Day or Christmas Day.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Outstanding people and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work as part of management team (will work closely with Director of Client Services)
  • Physically fit, and professional appearance and behavior.

We are looking for someone who can lead sessions that include exercises like circuit training, strength training (dumbbells, kettlebells, bodyweight), cardio kickboxing, kickboxing, HIIT training, boot camp style classes in our gym/at the beach/in a park, step aerobics, water aerobics, etc.

$30/hour
