What you will do
Project managers provide project management oversight for all phases of assigned installation projects, including coordinating employees, subcontractors, material and equipment, ensuring that specifications are being followed. Effectively leads moderate to large complex projects that generally have been assigned a medium to high corporate priority. Provides subject matter expertise in areas including project management, setup of local project offices, project scope definition, risk identification, project methodology, resource allocation, and facilitation.
Maintains control of schedule, cost, quality, customer satisfaction and safety at all times. Presents to management and/or customers on project updates, project cycle, and expected results. Manages subcontractor and vendor relationships throughout the installation. Responsible for assuring that projects are proceeding on time, with quality, on schedule and within budget.
How you will do it
- Project Managers are responsible for managing fire alarm, security and communications projects in commercial, educational, healthcare and industrial facilities, positively representing the company in all client and architect/engineer interactions.
- Work with end-users, sales staff and prime contractors to ensure a clear understanding of project scope and deliverables.
- The PM oversees and communicates project progression from inception to completion including design, permits, material delivery, labor schedules, and field installation.
- Develops a comprehensive project plan to meet schedules and budgets. Conducts Work in Progress meetings.
- Understands and follows all published codes, standards, and unique project specifications.
- Ensures AHJ requirements and departmental/SOX procedures are followed. Convey a sense of professionalism, fairness, and concern for customers, labor and management.
- Negotiate with vendors, suppliers and subcontractors.
- Accurately forecast revenue each month by reviewing each project to correctly estimate the value of work completed each month.
- Execute all major functions required for project management, including project initiation, project planning, project execution, project monitoring, and project close-out.
- Manage the Change Order process assuring that scope creep does not occur.
- Assure that all projects will be managed to within 2% of the booked project margin.
- Assure that job safety is priority on every project
Qualifications
What we look for
Required
- Associates Degree in electrical engineering, technical or related field. An Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.
- 3 years of Project Management experience.
- 2 to 5+ years of fire protection, electrical installation, construction, security, or related industry experience.
- Must be able to read blueprints, structural drawings and plan sets and understand complex building architectural, mechanical and electrical documents
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Visio and Project. Ability to create tracking spreadsheets, reference data in other spreadsheets and create macros
- Need to have or be working towards PMP Certification
- Experience managing budgets for large construction projects
- Experience managing project risk and earned value
- Available for Local Travel
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize among assignments with a strong adherence to deadlines.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, both with internal and external customers.
- NICET Level preferred
