Responsibilities
The Director, Wellstar Fitness Centers reports directly to the Executive Director of Employee Wellness and is responsible for complete operation and strategic direction of Wellstar’s fitness centers across the System.
Direction includes:
- Health Place a 55,000 sqft. medically based fitness facility
- Highland Athletic Club a 30,000 sqft. community fitness center
- 12 Employee Fitness Centers, approximately 1000 sqft. each.
The Director is responsible for recruiting, training, development and supervision of staff; managing operational and capital budgets and enhancing profitability by program design and execution. Responsible for maintenance and function of all buildings and fitness equipment. Through others, ensures that statistical and financial records; compliance and facility safety and cleanliness and customer service standard are all maintained with high standards. Promotes the use of the facility in the community, as well as marketing the business to corporate clients and Wellstar employees. Responsible for design, development and management of any additional locations. Collaborates with Employee Wellness team on integrated initiatives throughout WellStar Health System.
Qualifications
Required Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree required. Master’s degree required.
Preferred Education: Bachelor area of study in Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology and Kinesiology.
Required Minimum Licensure/Certification: Certification from American College of Sports Medicine or National Strength and Conditioning Association must be completed within 3 months of start date in the position. Existing certification strongly preferred.
Required Minimum Experience: Minimum five (5) years wellness or fitness experience. Minimum two (2) years management experience. Healthcare industry experience strongly preferred.
Required Minimum Skills:
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written.
- Knowledge and command of the principles of financial analysis, strategic planning, operations, human resources and information systems.
- Ability to collect, analyze and apply data and other pertinent information to develop short- and long-term practice goals and budget needs.
- Ability to work independently and to motivate and develop staff.
- Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to establish and meet short- and long-term strategic practice goals.
- Proactively searches for and recommends opportunities to enhance practice services and revenue.
Consistently demonstrates excellent leadership and customer service skills.
