The *Director of University Recreation* is responsible for the overall management of University Recreation in the Division of Student Affairs. Duties and responsibilities of the Director include but are not limited to: * Develop a comprehensive risk management strategy that is consistent with the University’s risk management objectives and provide a safe environment for all participants. * Responsible for the department’s marketing and public relations activities. * Serves as the hiring authority of the University Recreation staff. In this role, the Director is responsible for hiring, scheduling, supervising, and evaluating professional staff and managing the process for student staff evaluations. * Works cooperatively with staff members to promote all aspects of University Recreation and the many programs within the department. * The Director will prepare reports and proposals, as necessary, including major equipment purchases and replacements as needed. Consult and advise the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and other Division leadership regarding issues, needs, and concerns for University Recreation programs and services as they relate to students, faculty, students, and all affiliated constituent groups who utilize the facilities and services. * Oversees training and other informational programs for the departmental staff to enhance their cooperation among each other, professional development, education, and ongoing certifications. * Develop, organize, and supervise all seasonal maintenance of facilities including gym floors, weight room floors, racquetball courts, aerobics areas, field upkeep, and others within the department. * Assist with special welcome back events as scheduled by the Student Affairs Division and with other events such as Safety Festival, Open House Weekends and Parent & Family Weekends.
Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates must have a master?s degree in student development, higher education, recreation management, or a related field. ____ Experience in staff supervision, program development, and implementation is required. ____ Candidates must demonstrate a professional history of commitment to the values and practice of inclusion and diversity in a collegiate environment, show strong evidence of progressive leadership experience, interpersonal and communication skills, policy development, facility management, and strong organizational skills.
