The primary purpose of this position is to facilitate, manage and oversee education abroad experiences for Appalachian State University students including semester and year-long programs, faculty-led programs, internship and community service abroad, international student teaching, and research abroad. Duties and responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to the following: * Sharing and disseminating information on current issues in international higher education, the field of education abroad, and international mobility trends with staff and the University for strategic planning purposes. * Communicating implications of data analysis to upper administration. * The day-to-day management and oversight of all education abroad and works closely with the Associate Vice Chancellor for International Education and Development to create a variety of new programs aimed at diversifying education abroad destinations. * Enhancing effective partnerships with academic units and non-academic units on campus. * Working with the staff to streamline program development processes, manage budgets, assess and manage risk associated with education abroad, communicate and implement policies, develop and monitor performance indicators for programmatic success, liaise with students, parents, Faculty and program providers. * Representing with considerable independence the University and its education abroad programs throughout the campus, with professional organizations and associations throughout the world, and with current global partners. * Working collaboratively with the staff to reach strategic goals and strengthen the communication of the office with academic and non-academic units, students, and international partners. * Acting as an advocate for international education experiences and serves as the principal liaison with faculty and academic units to integrate international experiences into the curricula. * Managing and supervising a full time staff of four.

Minimum Qualifications:

* A master?s degree is required at the time of hire. * A minimum of five years of work experience with college or university education abroad programs is required.
