SUMMARY:
Under the general supervision of the AVP, Compliance, this position is responsible for day-to-day regulatory compliance monitoring and reporting in accordance with all applicable state and federal rules, regulations, statutory requirements and Board policies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Completes periodic branch reviews for compliance with Federal and State regulatory requirements, Board-approved policies, and department procedures.
- Completes periodic reviews of new and existing consumer and business memberships for compliance with all aspects of the USA Patriot Act, including where applicable, FinCEN’s Beneficial Ownership rule.
- Completes periodic Consumer, Real Estate, and Lending reviews for compliance with Federal and State regulatory requirements, Board-approved policies, and department procedures.
- Conducts one-on-one reviews with branch, operations, and lending staff to provide insight for the improvement of skill set and activity performance.
- Follows up with Branch and Department management to ensure compliance findings have been resolved in a satisfactory manner.
- Identifies potential process improvements for consideration by the Compliance Management, Member Experience, and Lending Teams.
- Understands credit union department functions, and follows all relevant policies and procedures.
- Works with cross-functional teams on credit union projects as needed.
- Attends, participates, and occasionally leads in-house training, job-related meetings, or off-site seminars to remain current with industry regulatory rules/regulations and Board-approved credit union policies.
- May occasionally assist with surprise cash drawer and vault cash counts, or other audit-related tasks as needed.
- Completes reports, tasks and projects as assigned within established guidelines and timeframes.
- Special projects, research, analysis and other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Strong written, verbal, interpersonal and analytical skills, including the ability to interact effectively with employees and management are essential.
EDUCATION: A Bachelor’s Degree is required. Designations such as the Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM) or the Credit Union Compliance Expert (CUCE) are strongly desired.
EXPERIENCE: A qualified applicant has at least 8 years of experience in a financial institution setting or at least five years in a financial institution in a compliance-related role.
GENERAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Solid understanding of federal and state credit union regulations and best practices is essential. Job-related certifications such as CUNA’s Credit Union Compliance Expert are required. Must also have strong analytical skills, and the ability to gather, analyze and present information in a clear and concise fashion. An applicant must also have strong interpersonal skills.
COMPUTER SKILLS: Proficient use of a personal computer is expected, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, with capabilities in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Adobe Acrobat. A candidate will also possess the ability to quickly learn specialized software applications.
