JOB DESCRIPTION

This position requires a motivated self-starter with strong prioritization skills having both excellent writing and verbal phone communication, and possess the ability to effectively report to internal and external management on a regular basis. Will be responsible for the care and handling of specific railcar assets that are damaged, defective, and/or have been directed to shop for scheduled maintenance or program work.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate repair and return to service of damaged and defective equipment.
  • Coordinate submission of Joint Inspection Certificates for endorsement.
  • Oversee program work and scheduled maintenance of railcar assets including progress reporting and tracking.
  • Review, audit and process repair estimates and invoices.

Ensure contracted charges authorized by AAR Defect Cards and Joint Inspection Certificates are suitable for rebilling per the Association of American Railroads rules and procedures.

  • Ensure that all work performed is in accordance with the Association of American Railroads, Federal Railroad Administration’s, and each specific car manager’s rules, regulations and specifications.
  • Travel domestically and internationally as required.
  • Ensure that all related correspondence and documentation is handled within allowable timeframes as dictated by industry rules and company policy
  • Perform other duties as requested or assigned by Manager

Qualifications / requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in a railcar repair industry position
  • General knowledge of the Association of American Railroads (AAR) car repair billing rules and practices.
  • Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal – for both internal and external constituents. Experience with Excel and using web based software is required.
  • Strong organizational skills are required.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and using web based software is required.
  • Experience in a team environment comprised of clerks, admins and managers.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently, prioritize, streamline and improve business processes that are inefficient.
