EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or closely related discipline. Five to ten years of experience in management position required, including five or more years’ experience in the casino slot operations. Must be proficient in the use of computers and possess working knowledge of SYNKROS or similar slot accounting system. Proven results-oriented analysis skills and prior budget creation and monitoring experience necessary.

SUMMARY

The Slots Director will coordinate all activities and manage all phases of the slots operations in compliance with applicable federal, state and tribal gaming policies. This position will also carry project management responsibilities and develop procedures for Turtle Creek Casino and Hotel, Leelanau Sands Casino and the Lodge slot operations .


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Formulates and administers department policies and activities, and develops both short and long term goals and objectives for the department, in alignment with those of the property.
  • Confers and works closely with the East Bay and West Bay General Managers to review achievements and implements needed changes in goals or objectives resulting from current or projected future status or conditions.
  • Ensure that slot department personnel set up and option all games correctly and that slot file data is uploaded into SYNKROS accurately.
  • Recommend physical layout of equipment, manpower, and floor space.
  • Coordinate and communicate slot operations new machines, removals, conversions, moves, etc with other departments including Count Teams and Revenue Audit personnel to ensure slot revenue is properly posted in SYNKROS
  • Lead project management activities and develop departmental procedures.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and tribal gaming polices and procedures in accordance with the GTB Gaming Commission Tribal Internal Control Standards TICS.
  • Provide hiring decisions, performance reviews, salary actions, personnel actions, training, and work scheduling for department in accordance with the EDC personnel policy.
  • Plan, submit, implement and monitor approved annual budget requirements.
  • Recommend purchases, leases, upgrades and conversions of slot machines and slot floor configuration to maximize revenue.
  • Schedule and monitor a preventative maintenance program and maintain an essential spare parts inventory to ensure maximum equipment and systems operability and serviceability.
  • Review, investigate and resolve all slot machine and related systems infractions, improprieties, and disputes involving guests and employees.
  • Monitor and implement procedures to improve response time for slot transactions to provide outstanding customer service.
  • Coordinate slot operations with other departments including Marketing and Table Games, to ensure total guest satisfaction and efficient operations.
  • Coordinate department resources in support of marketing promotions and special events.
  • Prepare, review, and submit slot performance and statistical analysis reports as required.
  • Willingness to cross-train and provide support in related areas of operations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Must respond to supervisory guidance and assignments and accept constructive criticism in order to learn new, updated information. The needs for quickness and ease of adjustment to the work environment and flexibility to change are essential in this position. Excellent project management, counseling techniques and team building skills. Requires strong mathematical skills with concepts, probability, statistics, proportions, ratios, etc. Critical thinking abilities to define problem, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Direct: East and West Bay Slot Managers and Slot Repair Supervisors; Indirect: Slot Repair Technicians and Slot Attendants
  • Task delegation to achieve maximum results
  • Reinforcement of policies and procedures
  • Direct department expenditures
  • May direct all interviews for new hires as well as promotions and transfers
  • Perform employee disciplinary actions and corrections including hiring and terminating employees
  • Oversee departmental training procedures and evaluate effectiveness of the training program


DRIVING REQUIREMENTS

Must have a valid Michigan Driver’s License and be insurable by the Tribe’s insurance.


TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS

May be required to lift up to 50 lbs. and be able to stand or walk for extended periods of time. May also be required to reach, bend, stretch, kneel, crawl, lift and carry on occasion.


TYPICAL MENTAL DEMANDS

Must be able to effectively handle stressful and compromising situations while remaining focused and professional. Must be able to deal with difficult people without losing perspective. Must be able to work productively under strict time restraints with variable deadlines.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Must be able and willing to work in a crowded, loud smoking environment. Must be able to handle being under constant surveillance. May be required to work in a confined space. Must practice all safety policies, procedures and standards as set by OSHA. Some travel may be required.


COMMENTS

Native American and Tribal Preference will apply. Must be able to pass a background investigation and a drug and alcohol urinalysis as a condition of employment. Must be able to work flexible hours and to take on additional responsibilities when asked. Must adhere to company policies regarding strict confidentiality.
