The Regional Head of Technology works closely with, and supports the, Global Information Technology Team in the delivery of regionally based technology activities including new software needs and delivery of projects, as well as leadership around foundational activities such as customer service and system uptime. This role will work closely with all Global Heads, Heads of and senior managers in the Global Technology team to ensure the effective and efficient deployment of resources. Specifically, the incumbent will:
- Act as the primary point of contact for regional partners, legal teams and business services’ personnel on technology services
- Oversee all regional technology operations and evaluate them according to established goals
- Analyze the business requirements of all practice areas and departments within region(s) to recommend technology needs to functional technical owners
- Oversee efficient and cost effective regional unique purchases of technological equipment and software
- Coordinate regional activities with global resources and other regionally located resources in the delivery of best in class technology services
- Manage regional budget and reports on expenditure in line with global processes and in conjunction with direct budget owners
- Assist in building unique regional relationships (where appropriate) with vendors and contributes to creating cost-efficient contracts
Key Responsibilities:
45% Manages executive and senior partner relationships to assess needs proactively and to ensure value is delivered through the delivery of technology capabilities
- Understand and identify opportunities for change management and work to deploy effective change management concepts and principles within the region
- Establishes effective governance protocols and engagements to prioritize needs within assigned region(s)
- Engages with the business to understand the challenges and nuances of running successful law practices within region(s) to extract:
- Future roadmap of capabilities
- Close-in client driven pressures that may create new requests or modifications to existing work in the pipeline
- Enable successful adoption of global software and hardware, accounting for regional uniqueness while helping ensure consistent and globally supported platforms
15% Integration to the Regional Leadership Team (COO, Functional Heads)
- Ensuring regular communication with regional leadership (including COOs, functional Heads of) to communicate the team’s achievements, upcoming priorities and challenges in order to escalate appropriately
- Acting as primary POC for the region for issues escalated from Functional leaders or the partnership
- Forecasting tactical activities within region(s) that could impact operations
- Gathering activities across the region that could impact, or require, different technology services (i.e. office moves or expansions, ingestion of new attorneys/teams)
- Takes ownership of the region’s satisfaction with the services of IT; collaborates with other IT leaders and teams to address challenges and make continuous improvements
25% Regional Technology Team oversight
- In partnership with the other global functional leadership team:
- Provide the matrixed regional team with appropriate advice and oversight to regional delivery
- Ensure Global resource plans for regionally located team members are implemented and any changes to resourcing levels are proactively managed and addressed appropriately and in a timely manner
- Oversee the regional business as usual on a day to day basis with clear direction and supervision, including supporting functional leaders with regional recruitment, training and development, retention and employee motivation, in partnership with their functional leadership
- Assist with performance management, training and ongoing development of the team, improving technical and soft skills
- Review or build reports to assess the team’s ability to meet regional expectations (e.g. speed of responses, quality of information, adherence to firm policy and procedure).
- Accountable for establishing a team and service-oriented culture with oversight of team members sitting within the region; being a resource to peer leaders across the globe in effectively managing the teams
- Holds standing conversations with peer IT leaders around the globe as well as team members within the region as appropriate for status updates, delivery on services and goals
15% Regional Technology Execution
- Develop and revise statements of work, which should include accurate time and cost estimates
- Analyze user requirements and usability metrics to ensure customer satisfaction
- In partnership with the global Project Management Office (PMO), oversees each regional project’s life cycle from conception to completion, with an emphasis on technical soundness and resource efficiency
- Collaborate with our Global Project Management Office (PMO) design team to create accurate and detailed mockups for customer approval for projects occurring within region
- Meet with customers or clients, as needed, to refine and evaluate requirements, strategy and content needs

Experience Required:
- Minimum 10-15 years in executive technology leadership positions – proven experience managing managers and setting goals and objectives for a large, geographically displaced technology team
- Proven experience in building and managing C-level relationships
- Experience in directly leading a technical application development or infrastructure delivery role
- Experience in successfully working with a global team to include global providers
- Experience in successfully managing a regional project portfolio with a minimum of 85% on time, on budget delivery
- Is highly influential with senior stakeholders and empathetic to legal business needs ~ serves as an effective translator to global teams who are responsible for delivering on expectations
- Holds his/her team to the highest standard of professional conduct ~ creates a safe, productive environment through which his team can learn and grow

Education
Four-year university degree or college diploma in the field of computer science or complimentary technical degree.
