    Position Summary

    The James C. Wyant College of Optical Sciences is seeking applicants for a Project Manager position that will support the Optical Fabrication and Engineering Facility.


    Due to     ITAR/EAR restrictions the successful candidate must be a U.S. Citizen or hold permanent resident status.

    The University of Arizona is in the process of creating a new classification and compensation architecture.     Duties & Responsibilities

  • Plan, schedule, coordinate and track project tasks and assignments.
  • Oversee and manage project progress and financials.
  • Generate reports on projects for principal investigator and other stakeholders.
  • Maintaining Microsoft Project based project management tools, system and data.
  • Generate purchase requests and manage.
  • subcontractors, vendors and suppliers.
  • Participate in writing, reviewing and editing project proposals.
  • Additional duties may be assigned.

    • Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Minimum Qualifications

  • BS in engineering, science, or engineering management.
  • Three or more years of experience in project management.
  • Fluent in Microsoft Project.
  • Demonstrated experience in budgeting and scheduling.
  • Demonstrated experience in writing, reviewing and editing project proposals.

    • Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in engineering, science, or engineering management.
  • Project management or system engineering experience in large scale optical, astronomy and/or aerospace systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in earned value based management.
