Job Summary

As a Director, Information Systems, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading, managing, and coordinating software delivery and support practices across multiple applications with varying resource models. Director provides leadership and drive in planning in addition to implementing strategies for enterprise level Application Development (AppDev) practice for the new and existing enterprise applications in J2EE, .NET and other heterogeneous technologies, varying middleware, database and reporting engines. The candidate should be capable of managing applications projects portfolio, deliverables for new or existing products and applications. The candidate should possess strong leadership qualities coupled with strong technical and people skills. Experience in deploying and maintaining enterprise-class system software packages is a must. These qualities should be used effectively to work with internal/external partners, customers, peers, leads, architects, administrators, project managers and analysts to resolve complex project challenges as well as communicate the results to upper management. These communication skills should also be used to effectively manage internal and external expectations from partners & customers.

The candidate must maintain a high degree of planning, process, documentation and communication up and down on all software releases to support existing development efforts as well as the maintenance of deployed solutions. The candidate should have a drive for results with excellent interpersonal communication skills and proven management capabilities to lead a highly skilled team of specialists, subject matter experts and engineers.


Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership for the AppDev team regarding vision, mission, scope, issue resolution, priorities, and the AppDev practice standards and enablement
  • Develop team members and coach them where needed to help build new and improved skill sets supporting the heterogeneous technology components
  • Responsible for estimating, planning and executing the projects and production support deliverables across multiple technologies and applications
  • Facilitate agile team’s delivery with high degree of focus on communication, quality and timeliness.
  • Collaborate on overall delivery & manage support process across multiple initiatives to ensure sustainable AppDev practice for critical application. This includes automated testing, documentation and production support including optimization, monitoring and performance management of large enterprise scale applications.
  • Collaborate with teams to improve process, tools, quality metrics, and support methodologies to gain delivery and support efficiencies
  • Collaborate with technical stakeholders and business analysts as needed to resolve and identify the root cause of product defects and/or usability concerns
  • Escalate issues and Communicate the status of deliverables and support issues to key stake holders
  • Responsible for the planning, implementation, and maintenance of the DevOps efforts
  • Ensure technical documentation and systems are in agreement
  • Verify load and system testing (including integration, structural, and regression)
  • Ensure end-user experience and availability of services are meeting the business needs and SLA’s

Requirements

Technical Skills:

  • BS in Computer Science with professional work experience in software development, delivery and support
  • A minimum of 7 years cumulative experience providing leadership in managing enterprise-class software delivery and Support with 5 plus years’ experience executing AppDEV strategies, enterprise solution support, performance management and system optimizations.
  • A strong technical background with in-depth experience designing and deploying run-time software infrastructure for enterprise-class applications
  • A strong application and systems architecture experience
  • A strong technical background in Java and .NET applications and run-time engines for these technologies
  • A strong experience in helping make effective decisions of Build Vs Buy and Open Source vs Commercial.
  • Experience creating and executing comprehensive process and support plans for enterprise class applications across varying operating models such as on-premise, cloud and hybrid
  • Demonstrated experience implementing and maintaining enterprise-class applications using heterogeneous technologies such as Java, J2ee, .net , etc..
  • Extensive background in CMM,ITIL,ITSM, Service Operations and Agile software delivery and support methodologies
  • 5+ years’ experience in supporting web applications using N-tier architecture.
  • Prior experience in Could First Enterprise Applications Development.
  • Experience managing web & mobile technologies across varying middleware and back end software components, including API’s and micro services architecture
  • Prior experience working with Database Engines (DB2, SQL Server, MySQL)

Leadership Skills:

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in direct supervisory role of a team of 5 or more
  • Must have experience in hiring and performance evaluation of technical staff
  • Ability to guide, measure, manage, mentor and motivate a DevOps team
  • Demonstrated ability to handle/organize multiple complex technical projects simultaneously without compromising the quality of work or the final product
  • Demonstrated strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivated team player to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment who thrives on challenging problems, and also adapt to the changing technology landscape
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills, capable of working both independently as well as part of a team contributing higher value to the organization
  • Experience initiating, planning, documenting, developing, and rolling out projects on time and on budget
  • Efficiently and effectively utilizing the resources across multiple functional areas of technical organization
  • Ability to continually improve the skills and capabilities of the DevOps team
  • Ability to balance business priorities with technical best practices and implementation methodologies while delivering and supporting the enterprise-class application software
  • Experience managing a variety of resource models
  • Experience managing budget for team through professional fee recovery
