Overview
The Associate VP, Hospital assumes responsibility and authority for the administrative direction, evaluation, and coordination of the functions and activities of assigned departments within the hospital to ensure operational objectives and results are in accord with overall hospital needs.
The Associate VP is responsible to the Hospital President/VP and is an executive partner with the CNO and CMO. The Associate VP functions at an executive level in an active leadership role with the hospitalâs governing body, medical staff leadership, hospital senior leadership and management team. This position is directly responsible for managers overseeing departments and other service lines as assigned by the Hospital President. Is directly responsible for the improvement of the hospital in assigned areas. Responsible for department leaders in establishing a measure of performance, productivity, quality improvement, cost controls and efficient utilization of resources.

Responsibilities
People Responsibility
Has direct reports at the leadership level (to include hiring/firing/performance management) and reports to an executive-level position.
Budget Responsibility
Has direct/indirect oversight of multiple departments with substantial financial/budget responsibility
Decision Making Authority/Independent Judgement
Makes decisions that impact facility outcomes including but not limited to financial, operations, quality/safety, patient experience, policy and strategic plan. Is expected to demonstrate nearly constant independent judgement, with responsibility for assignments are typically in the form of broad goals or areas of responsibility.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Master’s degree in healthcare, business or a related field required
- 3+ years of experience in progressive acute care or health system management and refined managerial skills in a senior leadership/executive level role required.
Licenses, Certifications, & Training
- Member of American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) preferred
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Behaviors:
- Current knowledge of DNV, state, and federal guidelines, regulations and standards required.
- Demonstrated expertise in negotiation, coaching, and interpersonal skills required
- Skill in communicating information in an open and sincere manner that promotes credibility (e.g. honest answers to tough questions) required
- Skill in recognizing strategic business opportunities resulting from changes in the economic, technological, political/legal, or social environments required
