POSITION SUMMARY
Participate in strategic planning and the development of credit union policies, procedures, and goals. Help develop and implement consistent organizational policies and procedures that comply with external regulations. Support mortgage department, indirect lending, and consumer lending. Help ensure maximum profitability of lending activities that are also in the best interest of the member.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with daily operations of the credit union loan department. Duties in this role include, but are not limited to, gathering, reviewing, analyzing and processing member loan requests; reviewing loan approvals for soundness of decision, recommending conditions and terms of lending; conferring with the VP Loans and/or President, as necessary; participating in staff and management meetings; maintaining knowledge of competitorâs rates, terms, as well as internal trends in lending and anticipating changes in the economy that might affect the credit union.
- Participate in the credit unionâs long and short-term strategic planning
- Assist in the management of the lending function by helping direct the development of a strategic plan and budgets and track on an ongoing basis for adherence and helping monitor adherence to sound credit practices and administration policies and procedures relative to lending
- Assist in developing, implementing, and monitoring policies and procedures in accordance with credit union goals and strategies. Work with other departments to maintain consistency in credit union policies and procedures.
- Help direct the development and monitoring of performance standards. Provide training to other staff.
- Aide in the development and training plan for each direct report to include coaching, motivation, and support.
- Resolve member complaints
- Represent and promote the credit union at external functions
- Report and coordinate with the President/CEO/manager any matters involving the commercial loan portfolio to include recommendations to the Board of Directors.
- Contact members to determine reasons for being past due on loans; make recommendations to bring current; take legal action against member if required
- Assist the VP of Lending or President in ensuring the Credit Union is in compliance with state and federal lending laws. Ensure loan policies, procedures, services and products meet federal and state regulations.
- Comply with all regulations and policies pertaining to this position.
- Assist in the supervision of loan officers and processors at 3 different locations in regards to staffing, scheduling, training and managing performance.
- Other loan duties as deemed necessary by supervisor.
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelorâs degree or equivalent experience/education
- Prior banking/credit union experience and knowledge of regulatory compliance required.
- Professional and effective communication skills
- Ability to analyze complex data
- Proficient knowledge of computer applications
- Strong decision-making and time management skills
- Exceptional member service skills
- Minimum 4 years of consumer, mortgage and secondary market lending experience
- Excellent supervisory and employee relation skills
- 1 year management experience
