As a member of USNH/UNH CIO’s leadership team, help set future direction, goals and priorities through strong and productive working relationships with senior USNH/UNH leaders, external partners and vendors. Provide strategic leadership and services that help USNH/UNH meet the evolving information technology needs of the University System, each institution, and partner organizations. Establish a risk-based information security strategy for the organization and direct the implementation and monitoring of information security standards and policies.
- Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering, computer science or information technology area.
- Minimum of 10 years professional network operations and network engineering experience. At least seven years of cybersecurity experience, which includes development of network and security architectures for enterprise grade environments.
- At least 5 years’ experience in a leadership role as a director overseeing operations. Management experience must include responsibility for development and implementation of IT strategy and direction of IT operations, security, human resources and finance.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Higher Ed or Public sector cyber security and network ops/engineering experience.
- Master’s degree in information technology, Business management, Juris Doctor (J.D.), or related area.

Duties / Responsibilities
- Leadership:
- Responsible for all information Standards and Risk Management (ISRM), Network, Cloud Security Architecture, Identity Management and Secure Engineering functions, sub-functions and applications – including the development, operations, support, maintenance and financial management of the areas.
- Develop and execute the vision, focus resources and create team energy to guide the operation and maintenance of the enterprise network and manage cybersecurity risk across the ecosystem.
- Leverage strong written and public speaking skills to shape strategic messaging with key stakeholders in USNH/UNH and in other public forums as necessary.
- Network and Cloud Architecture:
- Provide thought leadership and oversee the deployment, maintenance and operations of USNH and UNH-owned, leased, or outsourced cybersecurity service and technologies, and LAN, WAN and telecommunications service technologies.
- Provide leadership to help facilitate risk-balanced use of public cloud and third part Infrastructure as a Service (IAAS) Partner.
- Development and oversight of cloud governance and secure migration process to ensure optimized use of technology, minimized risk to USNH/UNH, and best meet the academic, research and business needs of USNH, UNH and partner organizations.
- Management:
- Requires considerable knowledge of the principles of organization, management, leadership, administration and a demonstrated skill in applying these principles. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and influence the behavior and work output of staff, customers, vendors and other resource personnel.
- Interacts with a wide array of audiences. Requires the ability to communicate complex technology issues in an understandable manner to convey the strategies and tactics of USNH/UNH both verbally and in writing and to understand the expressed needs of the users/clients.
- Must have the ability to effectively plan, implement and maintain production, enterprise-class mission-critical information systems.
- Develop budgets, manage spending and monitor expenses in order to run a fiscally responsible function within USNH/UNH, ensuring that sound financial practices are followed, fiduciary responsibilities are met, and budget decisions are supported.
- Must be able to identify, analyze, and solve problems by bringing forth mutually accepted solutions within the parameters of budget staffing and technology limitations.
- Technical:
- Security policy, compliance requires, security operations and governance. Networking technologies and supporting technologies sufficient to provide technical leadership and direction to staff.
- Strong knowledge of technology trends and their effect on business processes, operations and strategies.
- Large scale project management and the ability to manage multiple teams and initiatives.
- Best practices in employee management – coaching, performance feedback and staffing.
- Statutes and rules relating to cybersecurity and information technology.
