Wag More Dogs a dog daycare, boarding and grooming facility located directly on THE SHIRLINGTON DOG PARK is seeking an Assistant Manager. Candidate must have on the job experience working with dogs, ideally groups of dogs or in the pet services industry (this does not include your own dog or friends/family. It must be job related experience). This is not a typical management job. This is working directly with large groups of dogs. The Assistant Manager is responsible for maintaining accountability and safety for a team of up to 16 employees and a group of 55+ dogs.

IDEAL CANDIDATE will have had direct management experience of a team of 6 or more employees. Must have a genuine affinity for dogs and not be afraid of any breeds or temperaments. Must be willing to learn the basics of dog behavior, attending the playrooms will be required. Must be proficient in typing, Microsoft, have strong verbal communication skills and the ability to develop and train teams. Will be required to work on daycare floor as a Pack Leader for training purposes. Must possess strong organizational skills, the ability to multitask, and the ability to maintain oversight. Demonstrated proven customer service skills. Multitasking and maintaining organization in a busy environment is required.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Leadership-

  • Maintains accountability and over site of the facility and team.
  • All candidates must demonstrate leadership as well as outstanding customer service with all staff and customers.

Customer Service and Presentation-

  • Organizing the facility and keeping up accountability to the standards of cleanliness for the entire team.
  • Maintaining a clean and organized work environment at the front desk, prepping our lobby and daycare rooms for customers.
  • Establishes customer service standards for the team and builds positive relationships with regular customers.
  • Effectively communicates dog behavior and health concerns with customers in a professional manner. Works with Store Manager to handle customer issues promptly and personally to ensure satisfaction.

Administrative/Financial-

  • Management of KC database and records pertaining to all daycare, boarding and grooming clients.
  • Maintains quality control of daycare packages, daycare, grooming, boarding bookings and invoices. Ensures accurate processing of all customers through billing/client software.
  • Proficiency in all tasks of the Shift Leader position, and demonstrated willingness to act as a shift leader when necessary.
  • Maintains confidentiality in all Wag More Dogs’ practices and all aspects of the business.
  • Responsible for all uses of KC, to include overseeing and maintaining quality control for all of tasks related to management of dog daycare, boarding and grooming services.
  • Works with Store Manager to maintain budget control over supplies, payroll and expense management.

Safety/Health-

  • Maintain safety and health procedures throughout facility.
  • Schedules cleaning, daily tasks and is responsible for maintaining efficiency of team.
  • Keeps detailed records of any potential health and/or safety issues.

Team Management-

  • Responsible for training and development of team. Upholds accountability of team to policies and procedures.
  • Sets training goals and identifies training opportunities for the shift leaders and pack leaders in areas related to dog injuries, pack management, cleaning standards, safety, billing issues, kennel connection problems, or customer complaints.
  • Offers consistent, direct and effective verbal and written feedback to staff to maintain accountability. Including delivering detailed performance reviews to shift leaders and ensuring quality control over performance reviews for daycare attendants.

As part of the management team, assistant managers are expected to treat the store as though it is their own, maintaining all aspects of operations to a high professional standard.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $20.00 to $25.00 /hour
