EVO is looking for an experienced Vice President of Safety that can organize our various safety operations and driver trainers into a comprehensive safety culture for our company. We offer a Competitive Base Salary, Bonus opportunities, Employee Stock Option Plan, and excellent benefits.

Major objectives:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive corporate safety strategy that allows for continuous improvement of safety performance. This includes the following Key Performance Indicators:
  • reduce driver accidents by 10% in first 6 months and 5% in the following 6 months
  • reduce worker compensation claims by 15 % in 6 months and 8 % in the following 6 months
  • decrease the overall insurance spend by 15% in year one.
  • Develop, create and foster a company-wide safety culture that consistently puts safety first in our communications, actions, and execution of our day to day business. This will ensure that all employees are aware of safety standards and are engaged as measured by meeting a minimum overall percentage taken from survey data.
  • Build and implement safety department infrastructure, processes, and procedures. This includes:
  • industry best practices,
  • technology,
  • training from the ground up that ensures compliance with the following:
  • relevant policies,
  • procedures,
  • legislative requirements related to environment,
  • health and safety in all locations that will meet the standards of any audit or legal requirement
  • remain in compliance with OSHA, DOT, and other governmental regulations.
  • Build critical relationship with key stakeholders in all businesses and locations. This includes but is not limited to the VP of Risk Management/Insurance. You will document all working intra dependent departmental processes and procedures that capture all KPIs, business processes, procedures and strategies that are reported on to all key stakeholders. This data should be accurate and in a manner that can be effectively used to make better business decisions in a timely manner.
  • Participate in all designated associations and safety events as required and assigned to promote and represent EVO Transportation and Energy Services. You will represent EVO as an industry leader in Safety and will increase our Brand awareness and market presence as an employer of choice.
  • Direct, develop and implement all driver and operations safety training programs and activities and implement ongoing improvements to driver and operations safety training programs.
  • Design, develop and implement proactive programs designed to identify and address driver or operations behavior that suggests a higher probability of safety issues (e.g. predictive modeling)
  • Design and implement a comprehensive training and development program that include all Drivers, Leadership, Operations, Recruiting and other required areas and positions and ensure that all training is completed within first 6 months and that all new employees complete this training in the future.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Ten years preferred, but minimum five years experience as Director or Vice President of Safety at a large trucking company
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Detailed experience and record of building a successful safety organization with awards and recognition.
  • Excellent leadership skills, strategic direction, and past experience scaling the growth management, cost, quality, delivery and customer satisfaction in a medium to large trucking company.
  • Conduct monthly review with senior management of the company’s safety performance and discuss the development of new initiatives, policies, and procedures to continuously improve the company safety performance record.
  • Maintain a network of internal and external contacts to regularly benchmark and remain current on future trends and developments related to government standards, industry practices, legislature, guidelines, new technologies and programs related to safety program requirements.This position is located in Phoenix, AZ. Relocation is available.
