Summary/Objective: Under the general direction of the Chief Executive Officer, the Vice President of Intervention will oversee all of SCAN Intervention Programs. The role of the VP of Intervention is to insure effective business operations in our intervention programs in accordance with program service standards, establish policies and procedures that promote company culture and vision and oversee the work of the leaders in the following departments: Family Connections, Family Preservation Department, which includes both Clinical and Restoration Services, Fatherhood and SCAN’s regional offices that support Northern IN Preservation Services. Leaders at SCAN are expected to coach, develop, mentor, guide, support, and teach staff to instill SCAN’s core values, beliefs, vision, and mission related to quality service to families and children as well as to one another.
Essential Functions:
- Design and implement business operations, strategies, plans and procedures that result in agency producing high quality outcomes for children and families in the intervention department and in tandem with other leaders.
- In consultation with the CEO and other agency leaders, set comprehensive goals for performance and growth of the agency, in relation to intervention services.
- In collaboration with the executive leadership team, ensure sustainability of the organization by supporting the strategic plan with regards to diversification of funding, fundraising, and grant writing for all intervention programs.
- Insures compliance with all funding contracts (Department of Child Services, insurance and Medicaid).
- Provides updates to the agency wide policy and procedures to ensure all agency policy and procedures are reflected in the operations and employee manual and are reflective of best practice and in parity with local/state/federal laws in the intervention programs and in parity with agency practice.
- Responsible for the execution of the Intervention department long-range goals and objectives; ensuring that intervention efforts are embedded in the departments in which SCAN operates and that SCAN is seen as a leader in the intervention of child abuse and neglect in those communities.
- Responsible for the execution and compliance of all evidenced-based models that support high quality outcomes for children and families (i.e. Family Centered Treatment, Nurturing Parenting, 24/7 Dads, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Batterer’s Intervention and Domestic Violence Services).
- In tandem with the COO, insure compliance and execution of the agency’s performance quality improvement plan.
- In tandem with CEO, COO and CFO, insure all program goals are met, including but not limited to the following areas: budget (balancing staffing, program delivery, and quality); staffing, and high-quality outcomes.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has supervisory responsibilities over the leaders in the Family Connections, Family Preservation Department, Fatherhood, and Northern IN Preservation Services. This position is expected to work in tandem with other top leaders in the organization to support quality outcomes to children and families.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must be available between the “core” work hours of 8a.m. to 8p.m. and must work 40 hours each week to maintain full-time status.
Travel
Regional travel is expected for this position.
Required Education and Experience
Master’s degree in psychology, sociology or other related human service degree. A license in the state of IN in one of the following areas: mental health counseling (LMHC); social work (LCSW) or marriage and family therapy (LMFT); a minimum of 7-10 years leading programs in the child welfare field.

- Ability to properly prepare and maintain reports and documentation that insure contractual compliance.
- In conjunction with agency leadership, analyzes agency and program performance, identifies short-term and long-term goals.
- Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing with superiors, subordinate personnel, clients, government officials and the public, including being sensitive to professional ethics, gender, cultural diversities and disabilities.
- Ability to work on numerous unrelated tasks simultaneously. Ability to work with minimum supervision, both alone and with others in team environment, often under time pressure.
- Ability to occasionally work weekend, evening and/or extended hours and occasionally respond to emergencies on a 24-hour basis
- Ability to travel out of town, sometimes overnight.
- Ability to meet agency hiring and retention requirements.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and demonstrated safe driving record.
- Perform a wide variety of tasks which are broad in scope and impact.
- Perform according to agency and multiple State and Federal regulations which are often complex, unclear or not well stated, requiring independent judgment in selection or interpretation to implement new practices and ideas.
- Frequently uses analytical skills, initiative and creativity in planning, maintaining funding, identifying, preventing and effectively solving problems that could affect the department.
- Considerable judgment, leadership and persuasiveness are required to supervise and direct staff in all locations and implement programs efficiently with limited resources.
- Coordinates collection of data, preparation of reports, and compilation of statistics for administrative and regulatory purposes.
- Acts as liaison to local, state and federal entities as requested.
- Assists with grant development as requested.
- Participates in fundraising activities as required. The number of fundraising hours is determined each year and includes, but is not limited to, a specific number of ducks to be sold during Annual Duck Race Season.
