The VPIT is the chief information technology officer of the College. The VPIT is responsible for providing vision, direction, and operational oversight in the application of technology resources toward fulfilling the College’s mission and strategic planning priorities. The VPIT is responsible for designing and maintaining a robust technology environment that serves the needs of the College’s broad technology constituency. Reporting to the President, the VPIT plans, communicates, coordinates and operationalizes college-wide technology initiatives and works closely and collaboratively with the Vice Presidents in identifying opportunities for change and maximizing the benefits from technology investments. This position oversees the technology staff and information technology budget.

Essential Duties Summary
  • Serve as Chief Information Officer of the college, ensuring information technology quality, reliability and adoption.
  • Ensure a robust technology environment while establishing reliable information safety and security;
  • Maintain strategic process alignment with the overall strategic plan for the College at-large
  • Contribute to the implementation of the College’s strategic planning goals, mission statement, vision/values statement;
  • Plan and ensure proper management of departmental budgets;
  • Support the college-wide needs for enterprise solutions and data analytics;
  • Bring substantial knowledge both of national trends and of technological options to the College’s users;
  • Develop, implement, and manage the College’s technology planning processes within the context of institutional effectiveness;
  • Oversee organizational alignment related to online learning, hybrid courses, and other learning technologies and in collaboration with Academic Affairs;
  • Develop an infrastructure to promote quality, performance, reliability, professional development and student success;
  • Improve the use of systems for supporting data-driven decision-making;
  • Consistently ensure alignment of technology plans and resource allocation with the College’s strategic objectives.

Required Qualifications
    Education

  • Masters degree in relevant field, doctorate preferred
    Experience

  • Minimum 7-10 years of experience in a progressvively responsible information technology management position within higher education and/or private industry (with higher education focus); cabinet level senior leadership experience preferred;
  • Experience assessing information technology needs and designing information technology systems across multiple institutional departments;
  • Experience implementing, upgrading, and maintaining an enterprise resources planning (ERP) system;
  • Substantial experience as a project and change management sponsor;
  • Experience in the complexities of institutional reporting.

  • Knowledge of compliance issues pertaining to information technology including data security and privacy laws
  • Knowledge of and experience managing complex vendor partnerships
  • Change management and/or project management of major systems’ implementations
  • Familiarity with Banner, SalesForce, O365, Azure, cloud-based integrations tools (Jitterbit), complex data integrations and interchanges
  • Experience with data analytics and modeling
  • Ability to develop and oversee budgets
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent problem solving, analytical and organizational skills
