Location, location, location! Azure IoT is investing a portion of Microsoft’s $5 billion IoT commitment to building up Azure Maps – the Azure enterprise mapping platform at Microsoft. Azure Maps provides location-based services for Azure enterprise customer applications, geospatial insights for IoT device analytics and location capabilities for mobility and automotive applications.
The Azure Maps team is looking for a Senior Program Manager to advocate for and assist customers and developers across all industries who need maps in their apps…which is everyone! We’re looking for someone who can build requirements against customer scenarios that drive our innovation and investments in mapping services; communicate and collaborate with partner teams; define innovative, industry-changing location-based services working with both customers/partners and in-house development teams; and, focus on cross-team integration initiatives to ensure Azure Maps is the location platform for all customers who come to Azure. Candidates must be flexible in their ability and desire to assist building customer applications across map data, location data service, big data storage infrastructure, developer platform and user experience. Most importantly…you must be passionate about our customers!
Responsibilities
This is a Technical PM role; but, you’re customer facing. The responsibility of our Developer Advocate is to advocate on behalf of our Azure Maps developer ecosystem all while getting Azure Maps everywhere a map should be. You will code, you will talk to customers, you will present at conferences, you will be the Azure Maps technology expert from whom our customers will love to learn! Experience architecting complex systems, especially of a geospatial nature required. Previous experience working with location-based web services required. Ability to impact & influence customers with great technical acumen; ability to influence without authority; and, strong communication skills all required. Bonus points if you showcase your skills by building an application using the Azure Maps APIs that solves a customer problem. Some travel required.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- 5 or more years experience and demonstrated track record of collaborating with customers, working across various platforms and coordinating with product teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proven ability designing and shipping complex, technical scalable systems
- Familiarity with various vehicle capabilities in connection with cloud computing
- Familiarity with Azure’s plethora of capabilities would be highly beneficial, but not required
- Experience working in a fast-paced service-oriented release environment with specific experience developing project plans and managing releases on short cycles (Agile, Scrum)
- Minimum B.S. in Computer Science, related technical field or equivalent industry experience.
