Voyager is seeking a dynamic and talented Senior Director/Vice President of Corporate & Business Development. This role will play a lead role in identifying and evaluating new business opportunities, including partnerships, collaboration, and licensing relating to Voyager’s platform and programs and acquisition of new assets and technologies, as well as structuring and negotiating terms for related transactions. This senior role will build and maintain strong relationships within the team, cross-functionally, and externally. An essential aspect of this role will be contributing to the development and mentoring of a vibrant and deeply talented team of young professionals with diverse and outstanding skills. This role will report to the Chief Business Officer.
Responsibilities:
- Identify, evaluate, propose, and present new business opportunities and lead related transactions, including running diligence and negotiating term sheets and definitive agreements, working in collaboration with team and cross-functionally with R&D, Finance, Legal, Program Management, and other departments and outside counsel and consultants.
- Play key leadership role in the corporate and business development function, focusing on organization and deployment of team resources, and having major accountability for effectively mentoring and developing other team members.
- Forge strong relationships and work closely with internal stakeholders to understand and support objectives and their translation into corporate and business development opportunities.
- Build strong relationships and networks with potential external partners.
- Continuously monitor developments in the field via published literature, trade press, conferences, and relationships across academia and industry.
- Contribute to strategic planning initiatives in collaboration with CBO and team, Finance Department, and other executive leadership.
- Contribute to development and evolution of corporate and business development strategies and objectives.
- Foster and contribute to a vibrant team and company culture.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree required (with a major in the biological or chemical sciences preferred); Advanced degree in relevant scientific or medical discipline (e.g., PhD, MD, PharmD) and/or research experience in gene therapy, genomically-driven medicine, or neurological disease preferred; MBA or JD desirable.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in corporate and business development, portfolio strategy, and/or closely related disciplines in the biotechnology or pharmaceuticals industry. Substantive exposure to gene therapy, genomically-driven medicine, and/or neurological disease preferred.
- Excellent leadership qualities, including strategic thinking capability, attention to mentoring and development of other team members, and care and thoughtfulness about team building.
- Substantial deal and negotiation experience with track record of leadership in executed transactions (e.g., partnership, collaboration, licensing, M&A, research agreements).
- Passion for the mission of developing and bringing to market therapies that will make a difference in the lives of those affected by severe, unmet medical needs.
