Responsibilities

Across multiple, global campuses, manages multiple teams who place students in career positions after graduation, advise alumni on career development opportunities, coach students and alumni on their job searches and other job-related strategies.

1) Manages employees through subordinates, usually other managers. Establishes performance goals, allocates resources and assesses policies for direct subordinates., 2) Directs development of new and current programs, such as on-campus recruiting events and career management programs, to support students and alumni in post-graduate planning and career pursuits., 3) Expands and enhances the University’s corporate network by developing marketing and outreach strategies, and meeting with employers and alumni to increase resources and employment opportunities to students., 4) Performs other related work as needed.

Unit-Specific Responsibilities

1) The Senior Director, Career Management, is a member of Career Services senior leadership team and is responsible for a global team and driving collaboration across Career Services, the school, and University.

2) This role, based at the Gleacher Center, focuses primarily on students in the Evening MBA (~750), Weekend MBA (~450), and Executive MBA (~475 globally) programs as well as alumni (53,000+).

3) Lead a 13-member global team to provide individual career coaching, c reate and deliver career management programming (workshops), facilitate panels, and source expert alumni and corporate volunteers, with a particular focus on the needs of experienced working professionals across a wide variety of business functions and industries.

4) Oversee operations and research responsibilities related to these populations.

5) Play an active role on the Career Services leadership team to ensure that all constituents receive extraordinary support commensurate with their career needs and to facilitate a collaborative culture across all Career Services functions, Booth campuses, and the University.

6) Lead and drive a 13-member global team with reports in London, Hong Kong, and Chicago to assess alumni and Evening, Weekend, and Executive MBA student needs, and to develop strategies to meet these needs.

7) Oversee operations related to the physical offices (Chicago, London, Hong Kong), staff recruitment, employment reporting, budget management, programming (in person and virtual), student and alumni intranet content, career research, and coaching.

8) Lead cross-Booth coordinated efforts to design and implement strategic solutions.

9) Organize and manage the design, development, and delivery of student and alumni career management solutions.

10) Coach domestic and international students on appropriate career management and job search skills in one-on-one, small, and large group settings; present to groups ranging from 5 to 300.

11) Keep abreast of market trends as they relate to the job search (career change) and career advancement (promotion) processes.

12) Partner with several industry, regional, and/or functional student groups to assist in planning and delivering career-management related programming.

Education, Experience, and Certifications

Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.

Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 10+ years of work experience in a related job discipline.

Preferred Qualifications

Education

1) Master’s degree in business, counseling, or related field.

Experience

1) A minimum of eight years of experience in business or higher education.

2) Experience in executive search, career management, recruiting, training, or student services fields.

3) Staff managerial experience.

4) Experience with, knowledge of, or demonstrated interest in business careers.
